Just saw a twitter report: BREAKING: Missing F-35 fighter jet crashed in Williamsburg County, north of Charleston No other details.

According to multiple reports one person is deceased, and the plane hit a high voltage transmission line knocking out power to 20,000 locations before ending up in Lake Hickory. Unknown what type of plane at this time. https://whky.com/plane-crash-reported-in-hickory/

Apparently the plane hit the top of the 18 wheeler when landing. Pilot audio in this clip.

The dog jokes in this thread have been through the woof. Actually they have just been paw-fect. A big round of a-paws to everyone. I really glad this accident did not turn into a Bark-B-Q. They would have needed a dog-tor. This thread is just another reason why everyone on this site will be...

Listening to the audio and the little girl you just get reinforced about how the effects will transcend the original accident.

What if, and I am speculating here, what if the person that "jumped for the lake" did so because they wanted to say they were not the one that damaged the airplane. That they were never on the plane. And the pilot left in the plane said OK, he would take the hit because he was on more solid...

The story is actually well written with facts in it, and referenced pilot sites.

Looking at this thought and also hearing that the plane was used for possible jump practice / recertification in an earlier thread, maybe the pilot has seen the jump master lean out of the door and thought he could do that as well. And then maybe there was some turbulence just as he was doing...
