Cessna 150m with a mx300 need advice on replacing with a new mx300 or go to a garmin gps/com unit

Damn dude, did I touch a nerve? Man, this post is no better than your first one. And no, I'm not a miserable POS and I'm pretty happy in life as a non POS hater grown up. But hey, thanks for checking! But seriously though, when you show up on a forum asking questions, why would you post in a...

Cessna 150m with a mx300 need advice on replacing with a new mx300 or go to a garmin gps/com unit

That entire post is a run on sentence of messy gibberish and is practically unreadable. It doesn’t appear that English is your second language (I could be wrong), but it seems you’re just lazy and don’t give a cr@p? Punctuation. Sentence structure. Use of paragraphs. Proper grammar. Please...

Finally stopped thinking - bought my first plane!

GNX 375 and Bob's your uncle! Great unit for ADSB in/out plus IFR navigator.

Shutting down - Round engine edition

My knowledge base is various dry sump Pratts and Wrights, dunno how this compares to the Housai; the odd shaped yet kinda round thingy at the 6 o’clock position on these engines is the oil sump; some engines (R-1820/2600) have a front/rear sump. The purpose of these is to collect the “used” oil...

    Air-to-Air Cessna 140A

Yep, Cessna 140’s are such cool little ships! I have absolutely no need for a 140, but dang it, I kinda want one…

    A2A Cessna 185 - Fat Tire Cowboys

I'd love to have both the plane and the hangar! But for the hangar, that "You ain't no Fat Tire Cowboy" logo painted on the cross beam would have to go... too much ego combined with lousy grammar, hurts my brain. Great pics!!

    Starting round engines

Umm, when the cylinders start to light off, that's your signal. I will say that in flying a few different Beech 18s, the R-985 seems (for me) the most cantankerous to get started. The R-1340s in various T-6s have been pretty easy, while the bigger radials I've flown are even easier yet. The...

There are 101 public airports in Illinois...

I was about to look up the number for Texas, but you beat me to it. So, 300+ airports spread across the Wide Wide World of TX, nah, that’s just a bridge too far! Over the last 17 years flying my RV-8 around Texas from my Houston base, I’d guess I’ve bagged 100+… but I just can’t hit ‘em all in...

    Airports with a Hotel...

A few airports in the OR/WA area that I haven’t seen mentioned yet; Oregon; Medford, MFR. Three hotels across the street from the FBO. Roseburg, RBG. Google maps shows “Aviation Suites” hotel in a building on the field. I’ve not verified it. Albany, S12. At the south end of field there’s a...

I know this isn't the English Language 101 forum but damn it hurts my brain to read this. Try this instead; "A friend and I are finishing..."

Southwest flight 150agl 4 mile final into TPA

737 audio panels do have a basic intercom, but on the older NG versions, you gotta use a rubber band to hold the audio panel PTT switch to I/C, or intercom position, to have a hot mike intercom system, I cr@p you not. The newer Maxes have a fancy new audio panel that has a lock position for that...

Scary High Oil Temps - Lycoming 540

Does a trip to Pacific Oil Cooler for overhaul/flush clean out the varnish? My RV-8 has a somewhat similar oil temp issue; after a top overhaul a coupla years ago on my O-360, my oil temps were elevated a bit, not to redline or anything, but at least 15 deg warmer than usual. While the...

Flatlander adventures (solo) Chicago to the Southwest

A 182 would do fine at Ruidoso, as usual keeping in mind warm temps, density altitude and appropriate leaning for takeoff and landing. Your approach/departure would be over relatively flat terrain sloping down towards Roswell… just follow highway 380, easy! I flew my RV-8 in there years ago and...

    New paint scheme - opinions

Just curious, which paint shop are you using? Keeping it Texas local or traveling a bit? Long lead time to schedule? One of these days I’ll need a strip/respray on my RV-8, so I’m always curious about potential TX paint shops. But then again, there’s always Mena…

    What a zoo!

Yep! I flew my RV down thru FL a few months ago, mainly just to bag landings at Cedar Key, Key West, Marathon, etc. I saw a few other airports that could've been interesting, but, there was just so dang much trainer traffic everywhere I looked... I just climbed up to 4500'+ and pressed on above...

    N252DL Cessna 310 Texas 1/14

I'm gonna say FIKI started with 1977 R models; when I flew night freight in 310s we had a fleet of '75-79 year models. The '77-79 ships were FIKI certified. Not to be nitpicky though...

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

Oh good, so it’s not just me being annoyed there… I don’t watch much YT aviation content, but some stuff shows up on my YT feed and occasionally I’ll give it a look. Most videos just bug me with too much “look at me!”… and the flying/camera chatter is just, ehh. I’ve watched a few minutes of...

How many hours did you fly in 2023?

    My GA hours are 269; 179 in my RV-8, plus 90 in various CAF ships(C-47, B-25, SB2C, T-6, BE-18). Then there's B737 time... maybe 700-ish. 2023 grand total probably around 950.
