Looking for a 2 seater, I know this is a lot to ask for...

Sonex is low cost to acquire and operate. I have a Jabiru 2200 (85HP) in mine and have flown with another 200 pounder. 4 gph and 120 mph. -Very- responsive so fun but not for IFR.

    Seattle Avionics

In 30 days, Lifetime customers who do not move to a new annual subscription can download a forthcoming new FlyQ EFB Legacy 6.9.1 and use it for a year, after which it will be sunset. As the version number implies, FlyQ EFB Legacy is the same as FlyQ EFB 6.9.1 released in May 2024 and does not...

altitude encoder appears to be showing vertical speed

Echo stuff was doing ok according to the ADS-b report. This approach doesn't have ADS-b in so it should have been the transponder encoder data they were seeing. Having said that, next flight I'll unplug the Echo stuff and see what they get.

altitude encoder appears to be showing vertical speed

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum.... I installed my uAvionix echoAlt and went for a test flight to get ADS-B verification. I was outside approach airspace but contacted them to let them know I was in the area and would be maneuvering. I had my baro alt up on ForeFlight so thought I...

Thinking of buying a C150 for time building

I second going the experimental route (see pic :-) Cheaper to buy and operate. Spend $25k on the airplane to build the hours and rent what you need for IFR/multi. With Foreflight EFB and ADS-b in/AHRS (Sentry, Stratux, etc) you have a quasi-glass cockpit. Go 120 MPH on 4 GPH or throttle back and...

LPV as alternate. 600 or 800 feet?

During my IPC today the topic of ceilings and visibility at alternate came up. Precision approach at alternate ceilings must be 600. Non-precision ceilings must be 800. Given that for a checkride an LPV is counted as a precision approach, how is it counted when selecting an alternate?

Looking for a time builder airplane (grab some popcorn and enjoy the show).

That’s running 3000 RPM. I believe max is 3400. So yeah, I could throttle back but I’m not building hours Go to sonexbuilders.net forum to get a better feel.

Looking for a time builder airplane (grab some popcorn and enjoy the show).

It’s a blast to fly. If I were picking an engine I’d do the turbo Aerovee, but not because of issues with the Jabiru. Just to have a better understanding of the internals.

Looking for a time builder airplane (grab some popcorn and enjoy the show).

I purchased a nose dragging Sonex a year ago and it's a great short trip ride. 16 gallons and 4 gph/110knots with a 2200 Jab. 500 useful load so can do a couple of hours with another 'chunky monkey' :-) The guy I purchased from (original builder) was 6'4"/240, but definitely find one to sit in...

    Legacy LSA with room?

Sounds like we're twins ;) I purchased a Sonex a year ago and really enjoy it. It's a low wing two place experimental LSA. Mine has a center stick. I typically fly solo with the stick between my legs. I've taken adults for short hops but limited to 500 useful. If I had a skinny family/friend I...

    EchoUAT with Skyfyx

Looking for a pirep for the EchoUAT with Skyfyx. Looks like a relatively inexpensive solution for experimentals. Sorry certified folks :->

Adding existing hours to foreflight logbook ?

I added one N number of each aircraft type and put the totals for that type against that N number. If anyone wanted to see something specific like a long cross county I'd have to go to the paper logs, but that doesn't happen very often.

    Instrument approach circle to land

I had something similar on my check ride. It was a non-controlled airport. I basically did the green line. The DPE said the red line was the better choice since I had room. Nothing wrong with the green line but the red line is better.

    GPS 150XL/155XL tray

I'm looking at an airplane with a GPS 150XL installed. I'd be very interested if I could swap the 150XL for a 155XL. Does anyone know if the two use the same tray? I can't think of a reason why they shouldn't be able to, but it is Garmin....

How necessary is iPad GPS for ForeFlight?

I currently have an iPad mini with cellular/gps and FF. WIth my eyesight getting worse I'm thinking about going with a Pro 10.5. All of the planes I fly have some type of external GPS device I attach to. Maybe someone mentioned it earlier and I missed it. Do you get georeferencing on FF with an...

    Cessna 336

Saw this on Skymaster Center over the weekend. https://skymaster.com/product/1964-cessna-336-skymaster/ Not a bad price considering what spam cans are going for these days.
