    Windshield on a Mooney

The cleaning kit will make a really nice gift. However you could save some money and get him the poor man's aircraft window cleaning kit. I never found anything that cleaned plastic aircraft windshields as well as regular lemon Pledge. Having opened the preverbial worm can, I will now expect...

    Logging PIC Time

A couple of thoughts and EdFred or anyone else can correct me if I'm wrong about any of this. Since you have a rating in cat/class you can log PIC anytime you are sole manipulator. However, since you don't mention using a hood, the operation does not require two pilots so only one can log PIC...

(NA) A "well done" for Verizon FIOS service

If I lost power for 10 days, not having a land line phone would be least of my worries.

    Strange Ethernet/Wireless problem

If the DHCP server in the wall is giving you an ip in the 192.168.x.x range, you're router isn't going to work. The WAN port on your router expects to see a WAN connection not a LAN connection. You could probably use your router as a switch by connecting from the wall to one of the switch (LAN)...

    Any other GeoCachers here?

My wife and I try to go on cache adventures at least once a month. We also make a point to find some caches whenever we travel. We use a Garmin 60CSx these days. It rocks for finding caches. It's brought us to a long list of amazing places which we never would've otherwise seen.

    Cape May, NJ

I was born and raised in the Cape. I moved away in 2001 but I still visit friends and family several times a year. Wildwood is a four letter word, stay out of it. Wildwood Crest (the south end of Wildwood basically) is nice and hotels there will be cheap after the season. Accomodations: There...

what's your status as a pilot?

I've known two people who got the commercial without IR. One of them, I don't think has ever worked as a pilot. The other owned a skydive op. AFAIK both have since added the IR.

    Blue Screen O' Death ...

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is a Windows error which is most often caused by some failure of the hardware. Either bad RAM or an overheating CPU. You said this is a laptop. Does it get hot? Are the air intake and exhaust ports clear of dust or any other kind of blockage? If you can see dust on any...

    Landing a 182

No, it's supposed to be different than a 172 and if you try to land by doing the same thing you do in a 172 you're going to have trouble. You have found that when you chop the power the nose really drops. That should tell you that you've got two choices. Either don't chop the power or stay a...

    Cessna 162 Skycatcher???

The Diamond DA20s aren't IFR certified and there are lots of flight schools using those. I see no reason that flight schools won't this plane equally appealing. Well... Except for it's dumb name.

    Cessna 162 Skycatcher???

How is there no restriction on takeoff/landings here?

No trees or obsticles to clear. It wouldn't phase me to keep it inside the border as long as I flying a typical GA single but then again, I used to fly off a private strip where we would routinely turn final or turn out on departure inside of a 1/4 mile to keep the neighbors happy. It's not...

    Taildraggin'

That's not always true. It depends on the airplane. Most tailwheel airplanes have a larger rudder than their nosewheel cousins. In addition there are tailwheel airplanes which (for whatever reason) have much more adverse yaw in turns than say, a 172. Therefore in those planes, even in the air...
