    The MyFlightBook thread

Hi, Russ. No, I don't have the notion of private-to-you airports. I actually don't want to have such a feature, for the exact same reason that I don't want private-to-you aircraft: crowd-sourcing of data depends on people creating shared data. If it's private, then the crowd-sourcing will...

Tach to Hobbs conversion for logging

I paraphrased; the FAA's definition requires the *aircraft* move. Here's the full text (reference here, emphasis mine): Flight time means: (1) Pilot time that commences when an aircraft moves under its own power for the purpose of flight and ends when the aircraft comes to rest after landing...

Tach to Hobbs conversion for logging

Yep, AKA "block time." As a practical matter, engine time (or hobbs time) are generally a close approximation, but technically not what you should log. Some people let off the brakes right after starting the engine for a moment so that they move under their own power. But most of the time...

    The MyFlightBook thread

There are several. If you're using the mobile apps, there's a pack-and-go feature that lets you view your data while offline, but I think you were asking for something a bit more flexible. For that, you'd use the website. Go to Logbook->Download, and you can download a CSV snapshot of all of...

    The MyFlightBook thread

Great question with a simple answer: not much. I have backup folks who can take over if something happens. It's tied to a bank account that can continue to pay the hosting bills for many years. And of course the code is open source so anybody can install and run their own instance if they like.

    The MyFlightBook thread

Hi, Russ. Totals are sensitive to any search you do, so if you search your logbook for flights not in ultralights (perhaps excluding those aircraft or models, or restricting just to Airplanes...lots of ways you can do that; and you can save the search to easily repeat it), then they will be...

Been offline from POA for a while - looks like the 4-AT-E has been edited to be HP; so is this all good now?

Hmmm...I looked at the code, the one place that's being shown and hidden is if it's specifically the conditions above. Are you by chance mixing/matching engine and block? I.e., if you have an engine start defined and a block-in defined, then there's no in-progress flight and no pause/play.

    The MyFlightBook thread

I think I figured it out. You're in flight, per the screenshot above. No pause/play while you're flying - I'm not quite sure what pause would mean while airborne. I found the right piece of code in github and I'm checking for two things: the aforementioned unclosed engine/block time, but also...

    The MyFlightBook thread

Hmm...unfortunately I'm traveling for a week without my Mac so I can't look at the source code easily until next week. Not sure what's going on there then. I'll have to check back then.

    IFR time

    Indeed.

    IFR time

Accepted if employers want to know how much time and my point was simply that the fact that the FAA doesn’t care about it, does not mean that it doesn’t exist. If someone somewhere wants it, then it exists as a relevant time to track, regardless of what the FAA thinks. Indeed. People track...

    The MyFlightBook thread

I can’t see your whole screen there, but my guess is that you have a defined engine end or block in time. I only offer pause play when I think a flight could be in progress, which equates to either you have an un-terminated engine start or terminated block out. In other words, if you have an...

    IFR time

IFR time is NOT instrument time. Related, but completely independent things. See my post above.

    IFR time

I'm not sure what you mean by "FAA Category as IFR Time". IFR time is the time that you're flying under instrument flight rules (vs. VFR, presumably). This is indeed completely distinct from "instrument time" (e.g., you could be IFR on a sunny day with no view limiting device). To my...

    IFR time

Indeed, a decent # of people seem to want to track IFR time for purposes of recording the rules under which the flight was conducted, the same as they may also want to segregate Part 91 flights from Part 121 or other.

When you print, the signature should also print. It's an option you can turn on/off, but it's on by default.

Yes, you can edit the model. If G58's are all TAA, then go to Aircraft->Models, search for the G58, click on it, click the pencil to edit it. This is all crowd-sourced (and I review all edits). Thanks
