    Refurbishing the airplane

I saw this on Airliners.net and thought it looked pretty good. I also posted this on Yellowbirds thread. I think the lower dark stripe would look better as one stripe vs. the segmented stripe on this plane...

    Repaint the Yellowbird?

Ok, this is on a 172, but it still looks good to me (although I think the dark stripe would be better as "one" stripe rather than segmented). http://www.airliners.net/photo/Cessna-172N/1859965/L/&sid=0458bac38510fdeae5481773048adc85

    Repaint the Yellowbird?

I prefer the top one (black stripe) also. I really don't like all white planes that much though, so I think I like the top one because it has more color.

    Announcing vfrmap.com

Henning, I think you are misinterpreting the "World VFR" selection. By selecting "World VFR" it will just show the WAC (World Aeronautical Charts) not, the whole world. I agree that it could be labeled better, but I guess they assumed that most pilots would understand what they meant (It took me...

We will NEVER see this - A Short Rant on Petroleum

It is in use in the Yampa Valley. It sure is nice to be able to get flight following just after taking off at Steamboat!

    First solo!

I've flown it out of Western. In fact I got my private there with John Bowman as my instructor. I did my practical in 733XB (which doesn't look to be at Western anymore). Who is your instructor? 91E was to replace 64055 (a 180hp 172) that was destroyed at BJC. I flew that plane also. It is...

With Hybrid VFR on the charts change when you zoom in and out from WAC to SEC to TAC (if the spot you are looking at has a TAC).

Funniest thing you've heard on the radio?

At work I listen to the CTAF for KHDN (Hayden/Yampa Valley - an uncontrolled field that in the winter gets 737-757 traffic bringing in skiiers). The other day a Continental 737 called in : "Hayden Traffic Continental 737 right downwind for 10, full stop, Hayden" I desperately wanted to...

Potential Aircraft Purchase - Wooden Spar Concerns

Indeed they do, as well as Islamic varnish. But note that the use of Islamic varnish on aircraft is prohibited by the Department of Homeland Security as aircraft with Islamic varnish tend to crash into government buildings...:ihih:

    Jackson Hole Landing

But couldn't the formula be worked backwards? In other words the Jackson Hole folks tell the airlines we really want you to be able to bring in x number of people. The airlines then say to do that profitably requires y equipment. The typical Den Alt and or Runway Conditions, etc are fairly...

    Using the windsock

This summer I was approaching the Meeker Airport (EEO). The AWOS was reporting the winds as "Missing". Due to terrain surounding the airport, it was pretty difficult to guess the wind direction. Two calls to the FBO were unanswered, and there was no traffic in the pattern on the radio. I...
