    I hope the box swap works for you. My CFI installed a 355 in a plane and has had the same issue. Unfortunately they have swapped two units with same issue. Garmin claims it’s a software issue and they expect an update by the end of the year.

    GNX 375

    #1 above is what we do with the GNX 375. Keep the plane IFR legal with navigation maps updated every 28 days. Beyond that will update the Obstacles maybe occasionally. I have and use ForeFlight for safe taxi and not real worried about rocks moving enough to matter.

Then when you are ready to spend the second $20k+ for phase two you can install dual G5s and a GFC 500 autopilot. That will give you a seriously solid IFR cross country...
