Welcome to the club Edy. Good to see this thread revived again! ¡Viva Grumman Tiger! Now let’s see how long it takes for steingar to come bragging about his Mooney again :)

    Depreciation on a 182

Agreed. I’d buy an older 182 and add a newer glass option.

Kobe Bryant dead in helicopter crash

Yeah I’d love to see how the lawyers parsed the language in the policy to reach that conclusion.

Gi275 AI in all Steam out?

Pricing it out based on Garmin's site, 2xG5s (including HSI w/gps interface), gad29 and gmu11 runs $6865. Two GI275s, no gad29 needed, gmu11 runs $8770. 27% price increase is easily worth it IMHO. Also, I never liked the square shape of the g5. It makes a panel look mis-matched. That's just a...

Gi275 AI in all Steam out?

I've seen several YT videos when people removed their gauges. Besides the redundancy, I much prefer keeping the 6-pack look as opposed to having a bunch of empty holes.

Gi275 AI in all Steam out?

I've been researching this alot lately as I'm considering an upgrade. For awhile I was thinking G5 but after deeper research, the 275 seems the best solution for me. As far as size goes, here's a video that compares them. They are pretty much the same size. The G5 looks bigger because of the big...

    Recommendations on Solvang/SantaYnez

There’s a little path thru the grass and down the hill towards town. Easy peasy. Done it multiple times. Not ideal if you and your lady are carrying heavy bags or wearing high heels. Short walk to the casino.

This video raises a question about wake turbulence...

The only problematic WT I ever experienced was on short final 3 minutes behind a regional jet. I didn't think it was gonna be a factor b/c of the timing, but it was. I went around.

This video raises a question about wake turbulence...

VASAviation posted this video today about a PA28 declaring emergency after wake turbulence encounter after flying under a 777 near JFK. First off...kudos to all involved. My question refers to wake turbulence in cruise flight...not on the ground or landing. It's not uncommon to receive wake...

Plane crashes into vehicles just short of KWHP (Los Angeles)

I’ve been flying out of WHP for 12 years and this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone vocalizing to close that airport. For better or worse, the neighborhood that it’s located in doesn’t have the same collective power that you would find a place such as Santa Monica.

Plane to Buy - Long Term Planning

I own a Tiger and was gonna throw my vote that way until you said 2,750 grass strip with up to 3. While it could often do it, depending on DA, grass condition, weight and obstacles, there would be better performers. I guess it depends how important that is to you. I'll go ahead and say 182 if...

Plane crashes into vehicles just short of KWHP (Los Angeles)

The loss of engine on final is very curious. Lack of fuel doesn't seem to be the issue. 2015 fuel-injected 182...likely not carb ice. Here's a picture of those wires. Right past the fence is the threshold. I've flown over them hundreds of times. Very tragic.

Plane crashes into vehicles just short of KWHP (Los Angeles)

This just happened about an hour ago at my home airport. Doesn't look good at all. Appears to have crashed just short of runway 12 into vehicles on a residential street. Listeing on LiveATC, it appears to be a CAP 182 lost power on final, enroute from Bakersfield...

California flight with ATC comms issues

Ignore the naysayers. POA can be a tough crowd sometimes, LOL. I liked it. Perhaps some are thrown off by the title but, as a guy who also posts videos, I understand why you did it. Also your low posting number will turn some off. To those thinking he's doing this for ad clicks you are...

    David Blaine in class A

I remember hearing that the balloons had squibs in them that would be remotely detonated for descent.

    GoPro problems

Although I’ve rarely used the app to control the camera (battery life suffers), I have stumbled thru getting it to work properly. That said, make sure you have latest camera firmware and latest app version. If you have that camera already listed in the app, delete and create a new one.

S-Tec 30 in the IFR world

I fly approaches with my STEC-50 (same functionality as 30) and it's just fine. No vertical guidance but I just adjust the trim when needed and it's all good.
