What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

That's pretty aggressive to call me a dick head for using a common piece of slang.

What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

This, yeah. ^^^ Though how you do a real preflight and miss this is beyond me. Other options: The direct previous renter didn't see it as serious enough to abort the flight or even mention it. The responsible party is actually the renter who reported it. EDIT: Also, though it is true that the...

What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

Oh crap, I didn't think about actual vandalism. The light scratching is swirling. The deep scratches have steps in them. Some of the light scratching isn't oriented the same as the deep ones. We'll see what the shop's investigation turns up. It was reported by a later renter as an observation...

What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

Oh, and side note: it's being sent out to American Propeller Service for an IRAN as we speak. I'm not looking for what to do with this; I already know it needs service.

What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

On both the left and right side at the same time? Note, there's pictures of both blades.

What puts chips on the face of a propeller?

An as-yet unidentified renter came back and left the plane with chips in the face of my prop. What can cause that and how to avoid it? Any experience with this sort of thing? Particularly that light scratching around the deep scratches. Weird.

Jane Doe, PhD, John Doe, JD

I tend to agree. If someone has legitimately earned a degree that confers doctorate status and they want to be called that...they earned it. That said, I know of no one in my field who uses the term and, for the most part, degrees are almost never mentioned. I discovered many Ph.D. in my ranks...

    No sympathy required

My condolences to you. I've been where you are and am there right now, so I have a strong empathy. Every situation is different, but that need to deal with grief while defending those still here is a trying place to be. 15 years ago I lost my father to prostate cancer. In that situation, it was...

    PA32-300. Am I a Cherokee or a Saratoga?

When I flew a Cherokee Six, I "upgraded" it to Saratoga on the radio. Couple reasons: primarily because the tail number was N694DB but also because it is easier to say and understand and ends up with the same code in the system. "Cherokee Six Six Niner Four Hotel Bravo" is just a confusing mess...

How many times can you overhaul an engine?

You missed a zero. A replacement with a new engine would typically be in the $50,000+ range for a 200HP IO-360. Plus installation. Here's a good example: http://www.airpowerinc.com/productcart/pc/TLEngineDetail.asp?catID=33&prodID=9801 An overhaul would typically be around half that.

Radio interference near FM radio towers.. Solution

Velocity factor...learn something new every day. The speed of the signal as compared to the speed of light.

Radio interference near FM radio towers.. Solution

The number I get is 23 1/8" for 121.5 MHz on the calculators I try...what's different about your number? The number I get for FM is about 26" at the high end. So, yeah, trimming some length would make a large efficiency difference for FM with a smaller difference at the ELT freq.

    Dual Garmin G5 install question

Yeah, should do that...it was presented. Ran out of time each time before doing that. Maybe the next time it visits an avionics shop. Need to find a new avionics shop...my last favorite one moved away and my club's favorite likes jets better (not sure why the club likes them so much), so prices...

    Dual Garmin G5 install question

Thanks. It works well, with a pair of exceptions: First, the USB power location should have been awesome...right in the middle so everything reaches and minimizes cable. Didn't think that through...cables are in the way of everything and they drape over the power controls, too. Next update will...

    Dual Garmin G5 install question

It can replace the the TC, but has anyone done a TC and HSI pair and left the AI? It doesn't really make much sense. And AI and TC also doesn't line up well...why would you do that? I may be missing something. This is based on the assumption that either the AI or the TC is needed for the AP and...

    Dual Garmin G5 install question

Yep, I can verify the Jesse's post. I have a pair. Basically, dual installs come in really only one flavor: AI and HSI. That would replace the AI, DG, and CDI as primary. The other "instruments" on the display are not primary. You could ditch the VSI, if you like, as it's not required at all, so...

Help me upgrade my Decathlon VFR panel

Do you know if the VSI aspect has less delay than the standard 6 seconds of an analog VSI? That could make it very nice for acro.

Help me upgrade my Decathlon VFR panel

OK, I'm going to buck the trend here and suggest a GI-275 AI replacing the VSI, especially with possible night flight. My rationale: * It's not too expensive. Around $5000 installed, I think. * It's clean, as it's a round gauge that would fit in the round panel. * It includes a VSI and the VSI...

"Please don't group numbers, we can't do that" - heard from the tower

Unsurprisingly, my California accent matches that: POP-uh. Which is why shortening it to just POP is natural for me. If someone else's natural accent split the syllable where it seems to make more sense and sound more like pahpah, I'm guessing it would be less natural to hear pop as a good...

"Please don't group numbers, we can't do that" - heard from the tower

Interesting. At least around here I usually hear "One Zero, Ten, Thousand." The "Thousand" is generally not repeated. That's not correct phraseology? I will tend to group digits on a readback unless the controller is cranky about it. I find that if I have to do the small mental work of...
