    Cross Country Equipment Needed

I usually carry the items below in the plane at all times. They all fit neatly into a plastic toolbox i bought at walmart. In my duffle overnight bags, i usually carry some sort of food/water in case i go down in a remote area...things like slim jims or packets of tuna fish. 2 qts of Oil...

    9A0 - Dahlonega, Georgia

I have flow over Lumpkin many times but never landed there....now going to have to go try it I guess. It looks so benign from 5k feet up LOL. Another challenging airport close by (60nm) to the northeast is 24A (Jackson Co) Mountains on all sides despite it being on top of a hill. My terrain...

Turn off ADS-B targets on Garmin Pilot?

I have a GNX375 with ADSB in/out in the plane. While the GNX375 has a map/ADS, i find using my larger Ipad screen with Garmin Pilot is easier on my old eyes. That being said, I cant seem to find a way to turn off some of the higher ADS-B targets on Garmin Pilot. I love knowing that there is a...

    Oconee or Pickens Co. SC

As a Gamecock grad....i hope they both lose LOL. Clemson is closer, but when they have home games I am pretty sure they put up a temporary tower there. Be sure to check notams if it is a home game. Pickens is nice, but further away of course.

    1964 c172, 0300d, cruise speed?

I fly mine (1966 with O-300) at roughly 65% power on cruise because I am cheap and don't want to buy gas and I am in no hurry to get anywhere, but I burn somewhere between 7-8 gph usually and cruise at 100-103 KIAS. Obviously GS is what you need for real planning purposes which is determined by...

Southeast SCBC options, Triple Tree SC00 8/22/2021

Yeah, my original post was saying on the 14th....tomorrow was supposed to be a fly in at Guntersville. Triple tree is still the 22nd. Sorry for the confusion.

Southeast SCBC options, Triple Tree SC00 8/22/2021

It was on the Aviation News newspaper that comes to my house. There is a website called www.socialflight.com that now shows the event as being cancelled. Likely due to some bad weather rolling in tomorrow or perhaps due to COVID delta.

Southeast SCBC options, Triple Tree SC00 8/22/2021

Supposedly a fly-in breakfast at Guntersville AL (8A1) August 14th. Weather permitting (i am VFR only), going to try and fly in there with a couple of the kiddos. Neat airport right on the lake.

    Help me equip my hangar

Don't forget a pump for your tires or oleo strut. A fan if you have power too comes in handy (atleast here in Atlanta in the summer)

[NA] Where to live near Atlanta? [NA]

Haze is normal here in the South, especially in the late summer. Went up on Friday late afternoon and the Metar had a weather alert i hadn't seen in real life before..."FU". Of course I knew what it meant but when I got up to 3k ft.....man, i am here to tell you, I seriously reconsidered...

    Cigarette Lighter/USB Port

I wish I could, but the connections are solid pieces of metal, not the flexible thin pieces unfortunately. The tin foil thing may work...will give that a shot...hadn't thought about that. Thanks.

    [NA]Secret ammo sources[NA]

Talked with a guy at Academy yesterday and he said the best time to find ammo at that store was Tuesday or Wednesday. That is when they get shipments in. They actually had some .223 on the shelf to my surprise, but i have a ton of that in my secret underground zombie bunker lair. I need 9mm...

    Cigarette Lighter/USB Port

When I first bought my 1966 172H model, the usb adapter i had plugged into my cig lighter outlet wouldn't charge my Ipad...it would charge my iphone however. I bought a newer one from Walmart and it seems to at least hold the charge steady on my ipad so it doesn't go down so i guess it is...

See through carburetor and high speed camera

I have rebuilt carbs many times on my small engines and knew how they worked, but to actually see the inner workings of one working in real time is very cool. I will be using this to teach my girls about engines before they get the PPL so they can see for them selves. Now if he could make one...

    Fuel on Both?

My plane will drain one tank (pilot side) faster as well, but as that tank gets lower, it seems to even out and start draining from the other tank at some point, but it has caught my eye a few times. I have read (likely on here) that flying uncoordinated could cause this, but I am on parroting...

Is it safe to do a full throttle static run-up with cowling removed?

I vacation in Myrtle Beach every year and the banner towers down there fly with no cowls on...always assumed it was for better cooling purposes. After I change my oil, I usually pull the plane out and run it for about 30 seconds or so on the ground to make sure oil isn't blowing out...

This sounds like a cluster waiting to happen.

Not sure either, but perhaps it has something to do with that schtick they do on the movie Super Troopers https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=state+troopers+movie+meow&docid=608047273349954617&mid=B6BC6EA3DA5774D92598B6BC6EA3DA5774D92598&view=detail&FORM=VIRE

    Airplane abuse

Very true...as someone that has worked in the TV industry for 20+ years, seen that all too often. TV Anchors come across warm and fuzzy on air, but IRL are some of the nastiest people you could ever meet! That being said...still sucks to see an airplane nearly destroyed.
