Does this tie work with this shirt?

If I'm forced to "gussy up", my preference is: 1. Bowtie 2. No tie 3. Necktie The bow tie is a classic and neater look to me and it sets me apart at most non formal events. I'd rather wear a suit and no tie with a really nice shirt than a wear a casual necktie, but that's just personal...

    PA-38-112 Tomahawk - Tips?

IIRC, it was designed to spin, which was always weird to me, but I've flown the Beech Skipper(very similar) and they are fun planes to fly.

    Hate halloween

I hate Halloween, but mostly because at 52, I'm on the fast track to grumpy old man. I love giving candy to the little children, but not the teens. Teenage girls' voices are like dog whistles and teenage boys are a nervous bundle of hormonal energy and I can no longer bear it. I leave fast food...

    Unidentified roadkill

About twenty years or so ago, I was helping a friend move from Chicago to Snohomish, Washington. We were driving through Montana and happened upon a black labrador eating out of a carcass of a deer on the side of the road. The sight turned my friend's stomach...she was ready to barf. To me, with...

Pilot venting after shut down, what ya think?

    Darn it, wrong thread.

WSJ discovers Light Aircraft and LSA

There's no class bigotry here, my friend. $250k is a low price point for a new plane, but not for a plane that seats two and cruises at 90 knots. Many of us can afford it(cash or financed), it's not exactly the best economic choice for the masses. You can get way more LSA at this price point and...

    Pet Peeves

People who leave the movie theater the second the credits come up. They're only creating an earlier traffic jam. :mad2: Since the "Avengers" franchise started putting content at the end of the credits, I'm now too paranoid to leave. :D

    Pet Peeves

The object of the merge lane is to use the lane to find your way over BEFORE the end. The merge lane is NOT for coasting to the end and then requiring someone to let you in. Coasting to the end is wasting the lane, not using it properly. The "zipper merge" is obviously the best solution.

    Thanks,

Awesome news! I pray his recovery is swift. Congratulate your friend on becoming a member of an even rarer breed of pilot...those that survive a crash.

    Pet Peeves

Weird driving peeves: It annoys me when a driver in front of me is having a conversation with his or her passenger, turns to look at the passenger and takes his eyes off the road. I can't explain why that bothers me, but it does. It annoys me when drivers stop at a red light, but two to three...

WSJ discovers Light Aircraft and LSA

The Icon is not for the masses. It's not going to bring any common folk to aviation. It is a limited mission "status" toy by design. Why else would you pay so much for so little performance? THAT'S why the article ran in the Wall Street Journal and not the Penny Saver.

    YouTube training videos!

Now HE'S got an annoying voice. I didn't think anyone could actually sound like a tool until I heard this guy.

    Another rare occurrence

The standards to becoming a cop and remaining a cop should be higher. Being a good law enforcement Officer is a tough job mentally. People used to proudly serve the police departments, now we seem to have a significant percentage of Officers that are hoping to "survive" the departments just to...

    YouTube training videos!

To specifically answer your question, "Fly the Wing" with Gary Wing has good, brief instructional videos. I'm a sucker for any aviation related videos, so I guess that makes me less critical. I'm sort of obsessed with Mooney transition training videos right now and although they're not...

    Career Curiosity

I'm twenty three years into a career and I honestly don't remember how I got here. It more than provides for my family and I consider it noble work, but it's never excited me. I don't hate it...I "nothing" it. So I'm curious about how others may have found their way to what they're doing...

Shared Hangar-how would you handle this situation?

First, report it to the FBO, then leave a note on the FBO bulletin board in big letters: "Tools for sale - cheap!" with a pic of the crap that was on your wing. Then, when the inconsiderate idiot contacts you, let him know that the "community space" in the hangar does not include any part of...

    YouTube training videos!

Okay, "training videos" might be a bit of a stretch, but I enjoy the FlightChops videos, although he's not a CFI. "MzeroA Flight Training" with Jason Schappert and "Fly the Wing" with Gary Wing both produce quality videos and both are CFIs. They can be a great supplement to an actual certified...
