Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

If I ever realize my dream of getting my PPL and owning a plane, I think I'll start a YouTube channel of routine flights where nothing much happens.

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

Actually a Debonair, which originally was much lower powered. I don't know what engine she had, but the early Debonairs were about 210 or 215 hp I think.

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

So has anyone analyzed the ATC recordings of this tragic accident? I imagine the actual recordings have been pulled offline pending the investigation, but it would be a very important piece of information for sorting out what happened. I watched several of her videos and that autopilot...

"He was such a good pilot..."

I understand that. I was just speaking to the typical remark people make that McSpadden was one of the safest pilots in the country, that he was the expert on the "impossible turn" and yet this one failed... but if he wasn't flying the plane, those comments are misplaced.

"He was such a good pilot..."

But was McSpadden controlling the airplane? He was in the right seat and the plan was the owner in the left seat would fly the take off and climb, and McSpadden would take the controls when they began the photography. So we don't really know who was at the controls when the return was attempted.

Looks like VOR is back on the menu boys...

I think there is also a Tom Clancy novel that has GPS spoofing/jamming as part of its plot line.

I don't know which USA and its view of freedom you're talking about. Our founding documents clearly locate individual freedom in the context of being a responsible citizen who puts country, community, and family above personal autonomy. Maybe today ignorant people think "writing your own rules"...

    So there was this test...

I was teaching a class and in the middle of my somewhat brilliant and moving lecture, the screeching alert began to sound. As soon as it stopped, after about 2 minutes, a few other phones started blasting, then a couple minutes later, a few more phones... I thought I smelled chemtrails...

    The robbed that smiles...

I hear you! I started out on a Pentax K1000 with a Vivitar zoom that was doubt 10" long and weighed several pounds. Upgraded to the Pentax FX (still a SWEET camera) but eventually went to DSLRs. I know the mirrorless are very good, but I've gotten so used to the feedback of the SLR viewfinder...

    Ozempic/Wegovy

Make sense. Given that this is the government, that's kind of surprising.

    Ozempic/Wegovy

With the cost factor and supply problems plaguing Wegovy, I know people who are using a compounding pharmacy supplied Semaglutide. Is the FAA focused on the trade names of Ozempic or Wegovy, or does the rule cover any "semaglutide" such as those done by compounding.

    New ADHD pathway

Granted, but doesn't the possibility of the doc issuing the medical rather than the materials going through the FAA gauntlet for months and months add up to an improvement? I'm not a pilot and not in training, just an interested follower.

DPEs: how firm is the >50NM rule? Would distances of 49.5NM be rounded up?

For what it's worth, in my FltPlnGo app, KAHN-KRYY shows at 63 nm

YouTuber Dan Gryder Ordered to Pay Defendant $1-Million+

Am I wrong that the thread title is in error? The "defendant" isn't paying. Didn't the person who believed they were slandered bring the suit? If so, the Gryder is the defendant and the defamed person is the plaintiff. Okay, I feel better now.

Search for AME specializing in difficult cases (past Hx of ADHD)

Could you elaborate on that? Or point to some available information? That could be spectacularly good news for a lot of people.

But the trim tab is not inflected upward on the other side of the stabilizer. That's odd.
