So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Update: After a delayed checkride for weather, I am happy to report that I passed the Commercial checkride yesterday! A big shoutout to the EAA for the scholarship I was awarded to help in this endeavor. Next on my list of things to do is CFI.

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

One thing that has been on my list of things to do for awhile has been to earn my Commercial certificate. I finally have the finances and time to be able to get it done! I recently passed the written and I will get to start the flying portion in August. I am very excited to be able to do this.

    Grumman for flight training

I did some IFR training in it awhile ago. 2 VORs and an ADF-no autopilot, but I didn't finish. I never really used it for IFR-life got in the way. When I eventually got my IFR I went to GATTS and used their plane. I had never used a 430 before-wow, makes it too easy. It's great for VFR...

    Anyone used GATTS recently?

Its a small college town, reminded me of college station. Very friendly locals. The hotel was nice had a kitchen and separate bedroom, lots of places to eat within walking distance. Here are some more pictures from the hotel.

    Anyone used GATTS recently?

I did in 2013 in the freakin' cold of winter. Used the 172 Cutlass for all of it. Normally I fly my Grumman so it was a learning curve to fly the Cessna. The course was exactly as advertised. I would highly recommend it. Nice place, great staff, well maintained equipment. Couple of pix for ya.

    Texas

Moved to TX decades ago from the Pacific Northwest, love it here. I've lived in the Houston area for most of that time, on the far West side and now the far North. Took me a long time to get used to the flat. Flying is great, lots of places to go. Friendliest people ever. Yes it's hot and...

Have I lost my mind? ;)

Check out the 99's, awesome bunch of female pilots with lots of support and information. I've heard WAI is excellent if you want to pursue a career flying-but I'm not a member so don't have firsthand knowledge. https://www.ninety-nines.org/ https://www.wai.org/ Michelle
