I lost my Tiger to a hailstorm in June. Had to make the same decision (my insurance was below current Tiger prices). Went out and got a J35 Bonanza. Still training but solid platform. Tigers are really great but admittedly overpriced currently.
The Bo I recently bought has six but you are only drawing off of four. My tips just have pumps that push the fuel to the aux tanks. @pigpenracing - was yours different?
Enterprise lost 1500+ cars parked at Atlanta Motor Speedway to hail. Lloyds is covering them but their supply is affected. Ask me how I know? Same hails storm destroyed my beloved Tiger at the adjacent airport...
I’d go speak to him. It may involve some confrontation but it can be settled and surely would help you and others in the future. I taxied my plane over to the mechanic’s hangar and looped it around so he could push it in easily. He ripped much head off and showed me what I had stirred up in the...
Great video and I learned a thing or two also. I’ve enjoyed your videos. Glad you have thick skin and can ignore the negativity: I don’t know why you and others do it but I’ve learned from several and appreciate it.
Even if you kept your job, you certainly stayed home more, maybe worked from home and had capacity/time to shop and make calls and such. For people like me in Atlanta, that can add up to hours and hours of extra time to dream, search and buy.
Nice progress. I'm still amazed you got away with a Bama painted home so close to UT! Seeing this thread revived made me go back and reread parts like when the angled window was bing put in and others. I'm envious.
I just bought a Bonanza. Planned to ferry it back with my CFI but weather and IFR conditions kept me from being able to get dual. I learned a ton still.
Now I’m building my dual time . In my opinion, just ticking off the ten hours is not best spent on a long cross country. Landings, slow...
I bought a Tiger, trained and got my PPL. It was, for that time of the mission, perfect and I planned to keep it forever. Hail storm while tied down voted differently and I was back in the market. Tigers are obscenely priced and I was a little underinsured. Bought a J35 Bonanza I am training on...
Not a ton to add from an East Coaster but I sure did enjoy your trip. Very impressive.
I’m not all about speed but I’m transitioning from a Tiger to a Bonanza. I’m intrigued and may want a lowWe and slower plane in my life too!
I agree that a gear up with hundreds of hours after repair is safe overall. I just bought one with it. On some planes the design makes it less of an issue than others. I’m not qualified or experienced enough to say which are which. Good prebuy is always needed.
