Non aviation topic going back to college

My wife went back for a Nursing degree in her 40s, after already having a degree in Accounting. She did everything she could online, but obviously there were some in classroom things and clinical that couldn't be done, but she found being an older student wasn't a big deal. Me, I went back to...

How to best allocate avail funds for PPL and beyond???

To piggyback a question to this for clarification, if you buy a 152 and get your CFI, how do you use it to teach? Can you just put an ad out 'LEARN TO FLY' and teach people privately? :dunno:

Looks like a beautiful FBO; First class! I might have to make a $100 bowling run sometime with my son from West Bend!

What is your shortest Cross country?

No, it was from 28 to 27. I'm sure the flight distance was more than the [corrected] 3.9nm  You know what, I'm not sure! I used SkyVector to get the distance, and I think I might have looked at the ETE or something else. Thanks for the check!

What is your shortest Cross country?

KUES -> 02C 0.3 NM. Still put 0.8 in my book though! Did short/soft field operations for the second flight of my first BFR. We quit the first flight due to weather closing in.

What Is Your Longest Cross Country?

When I was 18, 1995, I flew to UND with my dad for school registration in a 172P. Each way was about 490 NM TO: KUES -> KGFK 6.5 hrs, with one fuel stop (forget where) FROM: KGFK -> KUES 6.9 hrs. We chased a thunderstorm on the way home, so we had stops in Brainard and Eau Clarie since we...

    Incident at Oshkosh

All runways open now for arrivals and departures. They initially only allowed departures on 18, but now it's all green. LiveATC is on fire! :yikes:

    Incident at Oshkosh

The green dot is further than the orange, so seeing the traffic on the runway, he told the landing pilot to get it down sooner. Can't say from my desk if he landed on the rogue traffic, or rear ended him.

    Incident at Oshkosh

If you listen to the LiveATC you hear tower give the "Malibu" clearance to land on the green dot, but then changes it to the orange dot saying he's got someone on the runway. Wonder why he didn't tell him to go-around...

    Incident at Oshkosh

It's on mine! Even though I haven't been behind the throttle for about 12 years, I've read and re-read the NOTAM about 5 times, watched the approach videos, and have been listening to LiveATC all week. If you're prepared, it doesn't seem that hard. I feel better prepared than some pilots...

    Incident at Oshkosh

Same here. My training was 20+ years ago, but it was always if you're on the runway, you're rolling to go (unless told to taxi to position and hold<-I'm that old )

    Incident at Oshkosh

Unless it was the Malibu that crashed and eyewitnesses thought it was a twin?

    Incident at Oshkosh

On the south tower archive, there wasn't any departures. Just a yellow nosed RV who was cleared to land, but suddenly told to go-around.

    Incident at Oshkosh

Checking the LiveATC archive, here's the north tower feed. The incident starts around 12:50: http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kosh/KOSH-Twr-North-Jul-22-2015-1230Z.mp3 What's weird is there is nothing for about 5 minutes before, then a Malibu is cleared to land followed shortly after by...

    Incident at Oshkosh

Listening to FISK this morning, sounds like there was an incident at the airport. At 8:08, a medivac was inbound. Hope everyone will be okay! :(
