How often have you used a cell phone in the air?

Yes I do it all the time...but only when I can get service. BT the phone to headset and listen to music or make a call. Not while landing.

Did anyone else buy a BD-5D? "Guaranteed $4,400!!!"

I saw a former flying plane in rough shape in a hanger at KVPC several years ago. God they are small. I think I heard/read the CG limit is only a few inches...like from aft limit to forward limit is only 2 or 3 inches. Can anyone confirm that?

Thinking about fixing my barn or building a hangar

Thanks Dave...i missed the updates on this thread. Nice building Ted. I finished my 30x40 pole barn shop a few weeks ago. Well i say finished but it still needs outside trim, insulation, garage door, electrical...etc As Dave mentioned I used to formulate urethane, aspartic and some epoxy floor...

The Ted Race Team: Because Racecar

Rechroming should be doable...but the final machining isnt something a lot of people can do. I know it took Mazda a long time to get the machining on the housings good/accurate/repeatable so thats a big problem with rotaries vs pistons. IT7 out west was great class but its hard to compete now...

The Ted Race Team: Because Racecar

IT7 is still a thing? Did Mazda start making 12a housings again or did they allow the 13b into the class? We had a '79 streetcar when I was a kid, so they have a special place in my heart. But when I looked to maybe do some IT7 several years ago it seemed on the decline as no new 12a housings...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

Not yet. I did notice that and pass it on to the club guy looking at this. But since the engine SN is on the list and it was new from Lycoming (never opened up)...I dont hold out much hope. I mean if they dont know what SN crank went into what SN engine....then they are worse than I thought...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

The original AD is 2006-20-9 based on Lycoming SB 569 and then 569A. It seems there was a revision to the AD in 2012 and now its 2012-19-1. In SB 569A table 1 our engine SN is listed. The engine was new from Lycoming in ~2003. Right smack in the middle of the expected bad parts. Now whether...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

IN many ways it is...but unless I missed some change....the FAA's feels that if an AD states under affected something like "Lycoming engine XX-YYY" then it doesnt matter if its on a cessna or a vans. I think there may be some discussion on this point among people. But we are also looking ta it...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

Found out yesterday the flying club I'm in with an RV7a is grounded. Turns out the engine by SN has a crank that is affected by a lycoming SB and then AD from 2006. And for the past 13 or 14 years all the other mechanics and the pre buy mechanic just went off the original guy saying "not...

Operation Pegasus - FAA Helping Law Enforcement

I thought I remembered reading about one of those busts that seemed random..Maybe it was this one here... https://dailyvoice.com/connecticut/fairfield/news/man-sentenced-after-using-own-private-jet-to-distribute-pot-from-fairfield-county-feds-say/780142/ Now we know where all those "random"...

What do the Bear's typically like to tour? The coast, rivers, mountain vistas? And how do you keep them from attacking you if the weather isnt that great? :D
  16. ChemGuy

    Well that isn't good...

If only it had been on an large treadmill it wouldnt have been able to achieve flight. maybe thats the answer...no more tie downs...just park on treadmills. :D

    Hey Delta peeps...

OK. So i am finally home. Barely. And my elderly Mom who was traveling with me made it as well. Our flight from SLC to DTW landed late. And we had to go from terminal A to C. A bit of a walk. I went ahead and got there before they closed the door. I scanned in and thats when the trouble...

    Well that isn't good...

Rope tie downs broke or the attach points broke? So maybe chains would have prevented????

    Hey Delta peeps...

Ok 1 last thought. If we had an EU style requirement to pay out cash if they delay you arriving more than 3 hours would the airlines be more open to waiting a few minutes? Right now they only have to pony up for a hotel and some food...and even that is a maybe.

    Hey Delta peeps...

Yep. And after that issue arose if they had held a plane or 2 for a few minutes a whole bunch of people wouldn't have had their travel ruined. Of all the people from.my flight I saw at the help center we were the only ones who had to RON. Most only had another 4-5-6 hrs added to their day. But...
