Anyone familiar with Gary Glassmeyer of KX170b.com?

Such thoughtful commentary on a 6 year old dead thread. Was there a point to that “blah”?

    Fun coincidence! Sequential airplane N-number

These two 152s were 1978 models; the reason I referenced N67597 as a pig was that by the late ‘80s, it was already kinda tired with crappy brown/white paint and a high time engine. Also, it had some extra radio gear and could do basic instrument training, which made it a bit heavier. So there I...

    Fun coincidence! Sequential airplane N-number

N67597? I flew that pig back in the '80s; 85-86 as a student and then 88-89 as a CFI at a flight school in Plano, TX... small world in airplanes.

Geddy Lee’s favourite albums of all time:

In your humble opinion of course. Geddy does have an unusual, distinctive singing voice and can be an acquired taste, but some of us actually like Rush...

Poll: Lottery Winner Pick One: Mustang (P51-D) or Corsair(F4U)

I see you two are a coupla weirdos... just like me! I'd go for the P-47D, F6F or Corsair before blowing lottery coin on a P-51... but, that doesn't mean I don't think P-51s aren't bitchin cool. Yep, a big engine T-28 is a hoot; I'm part owner on a T-28F, which is a T-28A (800hp) converted by...

Damaged RV-7, Nicely equipped, up for insurance bid

Hardly. IMHO, repairing this would be way quicker than from scratch; yes, it needs a new fuel left tank plus sheet metal work on both the left wing and forward left fuselage, but this work would be minimal compared to starting over on a new build.

    Garmin 175/355/375 Trainer

I think I figured out the position slew; use the mouse to "touch screen" and slew the cursor to where you want it. Top left of the 375 screen there's a "set" button. Hit that and you're in the new position. Bump up the altitude and speed and you're flying...

G5 ILS & LPV approach display choice

Single cue, dual cue... they both work fine. Try ‘em both and see which one you prefer. For my preference on this one I guess I’m an oddity as I could go either way; this attitude was brought on years ago at my airline with its 737 fleet. We flew -300s, -500s, NG -7/8/900s. The -300s had an...

    Breaking the seal on 2020

Cool pics! In that last one I can see my 2 favorite joints in PHX; Angels Trumpet Alehouse for beers and then the Public Market Cafe for breakfast... home made Pop Tarts, yum. But, on my last overnight there I found the AZ Wilderness DTPHX beer garden... that has the potential to become my new...

    O-360 Starting Procedures

To summarize; pumping the throttle to "prime" the engine is ineffective and a bad idea. A throttle pump while cranking the engine is not so bad and has worked on every start of my O-360 for 1600+ hours.

    O-360 Starting Procedures

Ehh, yes and no... if you have a primer (plunger type) use it for a shot or two. Or, then there's my RV-8 with a O-360-A1D; I have an electric boost pump, but no primer system at all, I didn't install one. The carb does have, however, an accelerator pump; my engine usually starts after a couple...

    Feedback on KHUT Hutchison, KS

I just did a similar trip maybe 2 months ago; one FBO on the field, Wells Aircraft on the southwest corner. Friendly people, great service and a courtesy car with a 2 hour limit. I think they have a couple of rental cars as well. I was in a hurry passing through so my museum visit was sort of a...

    Buying a HANGAR?

From a pilot’s perspective, the concept of living on an airpark seems like the Holy Grail... and I used to think so too. So a few years ago, we made the jump and did the airpark thing. Bought a 2+ acre lot on a large grass strip. Built a house plus a Morton pole barn type hangar with room for a...

    Aircraft paint prices 2019-2020

Yep! Years ago I had my RV-8 painted at an upstart paint shop in central Texas. The guy was a custom car painter and was branching out into airplanes; from looking at a couple of his previous jobs he did nice work. Problem was, when I signed up he didn’t have a proper paint shop or booth set up...
