SHOCKING news from the Middle East

Yea, but if you read the article, you'll see: Now my Boyer is gonna have a tough time selling the fact that there's been no credible threat via GA, right?

    Visibility - Actual vs Reported

Aha, thanks for all of the info Ron. According to the current A/FD, "AIRSPACE: CLASS D svc 1200-0200Z‡ other times CLASS G." Since it was 1130Z I could have departed!

    Visibility - Actual vs Reported

The airport (KAID) is Class D when the tower is open and is depicted with a blue dashed line on the sectional. I supposed I could have tried to call Indianapolis approach to request SVFR - but the weather was so nice I bet the controller would have thought I was on crack... so I waited -...

    Visibility - Actual vs Reported

This morning I decided to take a leisurly cruise just after dawn. Upon waking up I looked outside to see a beautiful sunrise and CAVU conditions. Soo, when when I'm finally ready to taxi I turn on AWOS to verify that indeed the winds are calm, and I hear, "VISIBILITY 2 MILES, HAZE". The tower...

There was a house on Nantucket (airport)

I think it ultimately is going to come down to how their land may (or may not) be in the way of airport expansion and development. That is, after all, what eminent domain is for. :| Sucks to be that homeowner, but there's little they can do but wait for the courts to decide.

    Pattern Entry

First, to Option 3. What if the airport has a traffic pattern approx 500' higher for turboprop / very small jet AC? I'd much rather cross over mid field with the piston AC than the bigger, heaver, faster AC overhead... And of course you may run into "podunk traffic, bugsmasher 123 making right...

    Class E airspace

That point is recognized at 10,000KM... Which is higher than the shuttle flies. :)

    Class E airspace

I believe 328,000' is the recognized edge of space. (Space Ship One's N number was N328KF) Edit: Yep: Edge of Space, or Kármán line Edit: Mike beat me too it but got the height wrong - so I'll leave this. ;)

    Suspicious crash

The local paper has a far more "neutral" article about the crash this morning. The TV stations are calling it intentional - the paper is actually not putting any spin on it at all. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070306/LOCAL/703060397
