An absolutely fantastic Speyside scotch whisky. Accompanied nicely by a Connecticut shade Macanudo Cafe series Prince Phillip.

Sounds good, glad that method worked for you. Is that really all the seasoning, salt and brown sugar? Honestly sounds a bit lackluster to me... I've never done turkey, but whenever I do chicken (pretty similar; everything tastes like chicken, right?) I'm always loading up in herbs and spices...

I only mix Coke with run-of-the-mill swill such as old no.7, Beam, etc... However, for some Scotches that are not the best, yet still a bit difficult straight, I find that drinking a small sip of Coke before sipping the liquor helps calm that "bite" that is typical of a young, low-end whisky.

that's something that I looked into when I started this. Yeah, seems conventional wisdom is that there's absolutely no need, especially with chunk. I saw a video on YT where they tested soaking, even for days, and the water still barely penetrated. I do, however, see some logic in soaking...

Hint of **** with notes of ****, and the Swisher to help purge it all back up... Lol I don't think higher price automatically makes it taste better like some, but it's definitely an indicator. As noted above, in the summer I much prefer the $45 Highland Park 12 over the $95 Lagavulin 16. I've...

Never been a fan of Code Red, but I've always loved Mtn. Dew. Seems like it's a favorite among pilots, at least in my circle. I think we even have an OpsSpec which makes it a required item for dispatch in our MELs; It can only be deferred if an equivalent volume of coffee is readily...

:yikes: :mad2: :nono: Mods, can we delete his profile for such a vulgar comment? lol I'm definitely still more one the brews than spirits. A nice beer or two is my daily drink with a meal, but the dram is more of a treat every few days.

Thanks for all the suggestion folks, my wishlist is growing! Obviously I can't just go out and buy them all, so I'm gonna shoot for adding at least one bottle a month to start growing my collection. As I was looking at my stock last night, I realize that after one more bottle I'm gonna run out...

As I sit here with a dram of Highland Park 12 year in one hand, a Montecristo White series in the other, and watching barrels get refurbished, I'm curious about y'alls whisky(correct)/whiskey(incorrect) preferences and why? I guess I just really love the flavor and added complexity of peat, so...

    Speed in pattern

The Caravan, particularly with the -114A and McCauley prop, just about stops when at idle. Over the threshold at 175 (Vne) and you can pretty easily vacate the runway in about 3.000ft. If you have a high-speed exit you can shorten that a bit...

    Speed in pattern

Fly the speed you feel comfortable/safe doing. ATC will have to accommodate by increasing separation. Shouldn't make you feel bad about it... Now if you're comfortable going faster, it would wouldn't hurt. If the pattern is empty I'll usually fly in the 80-100 KIAS range, but if needed for...

Got a new Glock... Or so I thought...

Very true. A nice economical way to still have the ability to shoot .40 should my XD40 buy the farm without buying a whole other platform. Although, then I loose a good excuse to buy another gun, such as an M&P, of which I have none yet...

Dug the Smoker Out of the Garage; Should Have Done That Long Ago...

That's still just my occasional fall-back option; I've never done a whole butt or brisket on it, rather just a bit slower way of doing dome chicken, brats, ect... And I've never put a thermometer on it. I personally still consider it a direct heat cooking method, nowhere near a slow 8-10hr...

.357 Sig is one primary caliber that I don't have... Hmm, I ought to move that up the list and get a Sig with that chamber. Perhaps that would be a good upgrade from my XD40 EDC... Any major pros/cons between the various models? Seems like the 226 and 229 are pretty much tied for first, with...
