Got a Part 121 Flyin' Job!

Will do! I'll make that note. Is he a Captain?

Got a Part 121 Flyin' Job!

A large part of my choice was staying STL based with my family. I've talked to a lot of commuters, and while it works for many, the ones who have established families hate it. That's worth a slightly lower pay, IMO. Not sure who Ornstein is, but I don't recognize the name from the intro stuff...

Got a Part 121 Flyin' Job!

No. STL base was my primary consideration, and of all the pilots I talked to at other airlines, the GOJ folkes seemed to really like it. Fewer complaint and less animosity than others.

Got a Part 121 Flyin' Job!

After almost 2.5 years in the Caravan, I've decided to move on and succumb to the shiney-jet syndrome. Begin training at GoJet on Monday for the last class which will still honor my ATP written without going through a CTP.

OBS/Azimuth Required to Match Charted Course?

I agree; Exactly why I've been looking/asking around. It's only just come up recently as that's the first time I've shot a LOC BC with an EHSI.

OBS/Azimuth Required to Match Charted Course?

Thanks for the replies. Not sure where I got that it was required to match the charted course... Either way, it just kinda caught me off guard when I loaded it into the G1000 and the course was set 'wrong.' I ended up manually setting 240 to have fun with the handflown raw-data LOC BC.

OBS/Azimuth Required to Match Charted Course?

I've always operated under the impression (probably from my instrument training way back when..) that the OBS/azimuth is required to be set the the charted course. Not sure if there was supposed to be a differentiation between en-route, terminal, and approach environments, but It's always come...

    Hot Spot vs. Hot Zone

Ding! Ding! Ding! So I flew down the other day and asked tower. It is indeed a place for ANG aircraft/operations involving live munitions.

    Initial instrument training in IMC?

"Departure, N12345 requests block 040-080 within 10 miles of FASHE" "N12345, maneuver as requested" Just ask and work something out. Even though it's IMC, you don't have to be on a published route or procedure. But I'd agree with others here, that the first real flight for IFR training...

    The MyFlightBook thread

Because PIC time with no Pax is not necessarily always also solo time. That would mess up logging for those of us who fly as a crew. If/when I have no Pax but I do have an FO, then it would incorrectly log my PIC time as solo as well, since I'm not the "sole occupant of the aircraft" [FAR...

    Hot Spot vs. Hot Zone

Ok, this is really bugging me... Everyone knows (hopefully) about hot spots published and labeled on airport diagrams. But when did a "hot zone" come around? I just noticed this peculiar label on the KMKL airport diagram, encompassing the southern portion of taxiway A. After searching the...

First Actual IMC - Post Checkride

Good job on catching it. Too many times flying the line I've seen pilots not paying attention when the AP is doing something wrong/uncommanded/programmed improperly. (IMO, you need just as much, if not more, attention on the instruments when coupled vs. hand-flown...) Several weeks ago I was...

    Run-up on taxi?

Sure, not every ramp will work, but most have plenty of room somewhere. Just spin it to point the blast out over the grass or an empty part of the ramp. How do you know I can wait? Maybe I'm trying to make my void-time; Maybe I've got an EDCT I need to make; Maybe I'm trying to beat some...

    Run-up on taxi?

Do instructors still teach this crap? What's wrong with the run-up pad or ramp? Don't block and delay those who don't need to do one.

    One hand on the yoke?

I only use 1 & 1/5th of a hand; One hand holding my coffee cup and a finger to push buttons on the MCP.

FL190 in a T182T until I realized my O2 system was leaking, as we departed with a full tank, and we were at the bottom of the yellow after only about 15 mins...

GPS Direct or: How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Magenta Line

Stumbled upon this video, which is quite frankly, absolutely shocking to me: Aside from the expected Monday morning quarterback comments regarding the pilots' preflight planning and IFR proficiency, what sort of responsibility would/should be applied to ATC in a situation such as this? It...

    Clarity Aloft PIREP

So I'm gonna resurrect this thread to relight that head-vs-neck argument... Just kidding, wanted to make another PIREP in light of recent events: Late January (on or about the 25th) the right ear just stopped working. The first flight that day they were fine, 10 minutes later it didn't work...

    Nectar of the Gods...

So I just had to resurrect this thread to share this. My mom decided to taste my scrumptious Scotch. This dram is Laphroaig 10 year old Original Cask Strength, batch 006 bottled in Feb. 2014 at 58% ABV.

Landing at closed and "abandoned" airfields?

not a booby-trap; It's clearly posted. Wouldn't affect a passerby on a legal easement, rather only tresspassers who are already on my property. Do I also need to load my defense weapons with less-than-lethal ammo and only aim for non-critical body parts to protect the criminal?
