All the negative talk about the piper AD stuff made me want to go take the Arrow out for an evening stroll :D

Cheapest way to build retract time

Curious, what kinda Bo and how many hours are you amortizing those fixed costs over each year? That's a lot more expensive than I expected. For the OP I'd say Arrow (one that's mid time with complete logs, for pending AD reasons you can see on another thread!). Insurance ain't bad. A well...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

I think the interpretation is incorrect that everyone under 12k is exempt. At a minimum there seems to be a progressive schedule of required inspections that is being proposed, starting at 3000 CSH or 4500 CSH depending on your aircraft "group". The good news is that if you're flying...

    I’m calling the peak

It's possible, but my guess is that it's not super likely. How many people knew that was coming down the pipe? I for one, did not - and I'm a PA28R owner! Plus I think given the decline in turnover across the board points to a broader slowdown overall across many series. It wasn't isolated to -28s.

If their estimations are correct, the kit is actually the worst option financially (to my dismay). Check out their projected math in terms of expected labor hours. Not to mention I think you and me are both hosed @mandm since I think we're both in the *R-180 and *R-200, which don't have...

    I’m calling the peak

Notes: - Big uptick in month-over-month increases of listed aircraft: +8.6%. - Overall, aggregate "listing turnover %" (aka: suspected sales) is at the lowest point I've seen yet (30%) - Pretty hefty asking price increases on both mean/median basis. - A lot of Cirrus SR22 aircraft listed and...

    Hard to sell aircraft

Based on turnover and sales stats that I track religiously, I'd say "hard to sell" (illiquid) scales a lot with price. But I look at SEL mkt, certified only. It's easier to sell a 1970's era V-Tail Bonanza than it is to unload a $1.2 million used (but still new), fixed gear SR22. So there's a...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

Sorry "expecting a check" was hyperbole, I don't think anyone actually thought they'd pay us or offer compensation :) What I really mean is that Piper could probably just as soon not make the part at all: let the FAA implement their rule, let good spars become unobtanium, and then the fleet...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

yeah... My plane rolled off the factory floor 2 months before Watergate happened in '72; no ****ing way I'm expecting a check from Piper to compensate me for spar work 52 years later.

    Proceed on course VFR

Interesting. I usually only hear "resume own nav" if they've given me vectors for traffic or weather on VFR flight following and are turning it back over to me. Otherwise it's usually "proceed on course".

    I’m calling the peak

Finally have a 1y lap of data as of the beginning of last month, which allows me to do YoY comparisons. I'll throw together another report after the fly-in this weekend for anyone interested. But here's a fun fact... In the aircraft makes/models I track (certified, major mfrs), there are +30%...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

Is the FAA counter-intuitive in their approach, or I'm misreading something? First they write this: "A potential solution to this would be to continue to increase the frequency of inspections to ensure a crack is found before reaching a critical length; however, frequent and increased...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

If I'm reading this properly it means my PA28R-200 Arrow will have a wing spar limited to 12k TIS hours? Joy! Just what I needed to facilitate my move to experimental :D

Elon does not read this forum, apparently

Absolutely. I'm sure if ArmySupplyChainAI recommends making parts for the Abraham's tank in 1-2 places rather than all 50 states and like 100 voting districts, it'll be promptly "fine tuned" til it spits out an appropriately wasteful answer.

    Safety; rules vs freedoms

We all make mental calculations about risk/reward. We all break the rules to do the things we really want to do, or which we think are dumb, overly restrictive laws and we can get away with violating. The fact that speeding and parking tickets are so common tells me that people are selective...

[NA] How prevalent is lying about insurance?

This is pretty much what I suspect happens. Some of these work guys see one of the big, name-brand service trucks/biz-cards with that quote on there and then they include it. They know they're not licensed/bonded/insured/etc, but it sounds good and looks professional. And prior to this big oak...

    Flying with low/flat strut

Unlikely to get an answer to that question since nearly everyone's indicated they consider it bad ADM to fly on a flat strut rather than investing a couple hundred bucks to an A&P who can fix it a cpl hours. And with respect... From your posts here indicating you want to take trips in the plane...

[NA] How prevalent is lying about insurance?

Yeah, thankfully there's a bunch of services out here (it's on the border of suburbs/exurbs, but not quite the boonies). I'm sure at least one of them will be properly insured, but their prices and backlog may reflect it. With a tree this size downing it myself is not a possibility, lest I want...

[NA] How prevalent is lying about insurance?

Gotcha. Unfortunately this one is not beside a power line. When I had a tree fall from the easement a couple years ago and block the main road into/out of the subdivision, I was able to get the city to come and clean it up right away (on their dime). Sadly this tree won't qualify for such...

[NA] How prevalent is lying about insurance?

One would certainly think (I mean that's half the reason I have homeowners insurance!), but then again insurance companies are exceptionally cagey at getting out of paying anything they can't legally be sued into paying. And for the case of taking down a tree, I have two reservations with their...
