the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

That's funny, my voting location was the same: A church basement! And I don't envy you being in a swing state! Out here in IL candidates don't waste a dime advertising to me on TV or mailers. But I hear a quite different story from my family in Michigan :D

    What would you do?

If you don't care much for your neighbor I'd just pick up the cone and fling it into his front yard. If they're an OK guy minus the cone, I'd probably just leave a note saying: "sorry buddy, but you cant use a cone to reserve a parking space" Only exceptions are if he's handicapped or shoveled...

    Winds aloft forecast

I'm trying to find some forecasted winds aloft data to help me pick a departure day for this week. Do you have any recommendations? Normally I just take winds aloft as they are as long as the other wx elements check out. But this trip I'll be flying southwest from Chicago to Arizona, and we're...

Rant: Exercising PIC, no not that PIC

Yeah, that's fair. I haven't had a partner. Largely for this exact reason. My safety and comfort isn't open to democratic vote. I'm too dictatorial for it lol. But yeah.. I guess not all airworthiness items are created equal. I can see how some would be kicked to the curb. But unlike wine...

Seems like it should be a short conversation if it's an airworthiness item?

    Brokers

Understand the frustration... I'll likely use a broker to sell, though. Not interested in picking up every random phone call just to find out if they're semi-serious people.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

It is crazy winds, but that never stopped my brothers and I when we were younger. I remember going out in freezing rain even! By god I was going to get that candy, binge on it the entire night, and subject myself to the very real possibility of early onset diabetes, rain or shine.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Actually all of them. Or none of them? I'm so out of touch with gen z culture I couldn't tell what any of their costumes were supposed to be. Gone are the days of cutting 2 eye holes out of a bed sheet and calling yourself a ghost, I guess!

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

After last year's bombardment of trick-or-treaters I went out and bought a bunch of candy this year. And I have gotten 4 trick-or-treaters the entire night. So for the next 20 PoA fly-ins my contribution is going to be bringing candy :)

    Lilium Runs Out of Money

Interesting. It costs me about $35-40 to fill up my Hyundai Elantra, which is fuel efficient and has about a 12gal tank. Either you have the a truck with a tiny gas tank, or I need to move to North Carolina for cheap gas!

Rant: Exercising PIC, no not that PIC

Sorry, bit of a thread detour but why is it that cracks in exhaust are so common? When I bought mine that was one of the first repairs we had to do. But it's never made sense to me. It doesn't seem like a part that takes a lot of physical abuse that would result in physical cracks (discounting...

VFR flight plans. Do you file them?

I only file VFR flight plans if I'm intending to go through a TFR that covers my airport. But most of the time I fly I'm on with ATC doing FF. I might file them if I was flying in the wilderness. But as it stands: in the midwest, flying where I do, I think people are going to notice my smoking...

Anomalous Ammeter Readings + Loss of Alternator

Replaced alternator and voltage regulator, since both failed at around the same time, and haven't had an issue since.

    I’m calling the peak

So if I'm understanding correctly, you're not going to buy the aforementioned $750k Cessna 210? :p The powerplant is definitely the big hot potato. Doesn't matter if you're a financed-millionaire or not, actually. Most people buying a $100-200k plane don't relish the opportunity to spend...

    I’m calling the peak

That would be it! I mean, looks nice and everything. But 3/4 of a million bucks for a 1980s 210 seems excessive.

    I’m calling the peak

I found a Cessna 210 Centurion listed today for $750,000. Had to double and then triple check my data. That's a new record, I think.

Rant: Exercising PIC, no not that PIC

Yeah, we both got out. It was about 2 minutes later that I said he can drop me off. To be clear: I'd made up my mind after the run-up I just was finding the right spot in the conversation to voice it. I don't even know what can cause an engine to run that rough. At least nothing I've ever...

LOL. That would be quite an act of intimacy in a Cherokee... I'd feel almost obligated to put a $20 bill in his belt loop for the dance. We both got out :)

Rant: Exercising PIC, no not that PIC

Lol my friend texted to say I overreacted on this by bailing on the flight. His response was "you've never done ferry work and it shows. I've been paid to fly planes that sound a lot ****tier than that". Note to self: don't become a ferry pilot lol.
