    Satan's Odometer Reading

Superstitions aren't based on facts or logic. So you can't reason or explain away someone's fear based on what they don't know or understand. Personally, I find nothing to fear in any number, although I have never seen an elevator un the U.S. with a button for the 13th floor. They have that...

Claims of Shoddy Production at Boeing plant in N. Charleston SC

Yes, unions are fighting for their political lives. Membership has been dropping precipitously everywhere that workers are not required to join a union (and pay dues) in order to have a job. Boeing placing a large factory in a right to work state is a huge ongoing threat to labor unions, so if...

    AOA Probe Failure

So is Cirrus, there's an Emergency AD out on the AoA sensor for their fsncy new jet. "Before Next Flight", even . . . . Someone during assembly left loctite out of two set screws, and maybe didn't torque them right (or maybe they are loose due to lack of loctite). Results in undesired /...

    Obtaining Approaches to Private Airports

I looked at going to Stockmar once, when I lived in WV. My uncle got permission for me to visit him, but the trip never materialized. Good thing, too, a visit to the ATL FSDO would have been mucho inconvenient! Nigh onto impossible, even.

    Northern BBQ vs Southern BBQ

There's lotsa "heres" I'm not from around, but I was raised in GA, SC, NC and VA. So far, I'm at 22 towns in 8 states, plus two far-apart Prefectures in Japan. That'd be six Southern states, one Yankee and one Border. Barbecue should be spicy and hot. Don't put nothing on it to counteract and...

    Northern BBQ vs Southern BBQ

Slaw don't belong in the sammich. All that mayo kills the spices on the meat and the hot in the sauce.

    Chart management?

I much prefer the bound books, easier to flip through and they stack nicely in the floor, ready to use in flight. Yes, I have Avare but much prefer to navigate with my G430W. It is nice, though, the waynthe EFB pops up the airport diagram to show me where I am on the ground.

    Husky for Private Pilot Training

There's a minimum equipment list to usa an airplane for training? And beatup, 40 year old C152s with a single Nav/Com meet it, but you're worried that a Husky won't?

That's a Bear Bomber, I don't know the designator. Twin clunter-rotating props on each engine, big red star on the tail. It ain't nothing from Boeing! But there is a photo of an actual Boeing B-36 bomber a few posts above yours.

SI consideration for new authorization next exam date

So when can he convert to Basic Med? I've heard confusing things about that with SIs, expiration dates, etc.

Duke down and on fire, Fullerton CA

There wasn't much flight to track. I read elsewhere that the fire was only ~1600' from where he pulled onto the runway.

Plane crash- not even sure what to say

My first trip to a busy Charlie, as both a new pilot and a new Mooney owner, I didn't drop the gear until short final (gear up to keep my speed up, with a wide-body breathing down my neck), then had to add power on the ground to expedite myself to the first exit 3000' away . . . .

When is the best season for learning to fly?

^^^^ THIS! I got my license in WV, October to May. Didn't fly much in Jan & Feb, but everything worked out well. Multiseason experience is good, it lets you know what to expect when the instructor is no longer beside you . . .

    Tie Down Fees

I was based at KHTW, a stone's throw from E. KY, and used to eat at the Cloud Nine Diner at Paintsville-Prestonsburg Airport (KSJS, I think). When I moved in 2014, tie downs at KHTW were ~$125/year when paid in advance (by the end of Jan), and slightly more if paid monthly. Don't need Big City...

you know that crack you're not supposed to put things into?

Because you never shut down and park away from your hangar, like on a overnight trip or even a lunch run???

you know that crack you're not supposed to put things into?

I put my keys in my pants pocket . . . Just sayin' . . . . Add more keys to your ring. I have the following on mine: Ignition key Door key Baggage key Hangar key Old hangar key (in case I visit and need it again--new tenant's idea, not mine) Maintenance key Padlock key Tag with my name and...

Ethiopian Airlines Crash; Another 737 Max

I know people who have died, but they cannot share the experience with anyone. I have not died yet, so how can I get experience before I do die?

    Arnold Palmer Passed Away

Latrobe has a very nice airport, with a larger-than-life statue of Arnie out front. The chop house in the old terminal building is very good, and the waitresses understand when you decline the wine because you flew in to eat.
