Toyota is right about EVs after all...

My favorite woman has a 2017 Pacifica. Normal IC version. Has more electrical issues than Apollo 1. The hood is rusting through. Transmission is glitchy. She and the grandkids love the slider doors (when they work) and the seat back video. I will say the stow-and-go seating (tug on a loop and...

    Crosswind landing no-flap taildragger

A slip is a slip. You're sitting on the center line, so just slip in the same direction you would to correct for the wind. There's no advantage to "forward slip" in one direction vs the other. Ailerons to track the runway center line, enough rudder to point the nose down the runway.

    Purchase of an experimental aircraft

As I understand it, the most compelling reason to form an LLC is so that you can take on (or remove) different partners or even sell the entire LLC without having to pay sales/use tax (again). You're selling a business entity, not an airplane. I'm not a tax attorney, nor have I stayed in a...

"Bonnie and Clyde Bridge" lost in flood

A little upper left corner history: I was intrigued by the following story, of the location where Chief Leschi was hanged. The "monument" is a chunk of stone with a plaque on it. Barely visible in a little used area of a shopping mall. The monument isn't even the location. The plaque says that...

    Missing Plane Paris, Texas

What incredible stress are you referring to? In the 1940s we were sending teenage pilots off to fight the Nazis. They came back as 21 year olds after 25-50 missions having seen horrors none of us can imagine. No mental health resources offered or available. I've met some of them. After the war...

Thinking about - er bought - a Jeep Gladiator

Good to read that jeep is finally getting their s*** together in the quality department. Several years ago I watched a show on the History channel. You know, "half funny individual travels the world in search of [insert item]", and this time the item was coffee beans. One of the vehicles used...

Southern Airways Express C208 Lands on Highway Near Dulles

In the PC-12 the prop produces heinous drag if the engine decides to "not". Feathering is how you stretch the glide and is an immediate reaction. It is not automatic. NFW would you be contemplating a restart at 800'.

    ODP crossing a TFR

Weirdest TFR I've ever heard of, but really no different from dealing with class C. Looks like you can get NORCAL approach on the ground 125.4, Flight Service on 122.2 or clearance delivery 916-361-6874. I don't see the crisis in getting a transponder code before taxiing onto the runway.

New to forum. havent flown since 10/2002.

When I did instruction full time I had a guy come in to the place where I worked. Last flew 26 years ago. I told him that "technically" he needed a medical and a BFR (that's what we called them back in the day). I took him flying night. His voice cracked and his hands were shaking but his radio...
