This is about the most pointless NOTAM I've seen

I fly in SW Alaska and always wondered why our GOM specifically prohibits use of vehicle headlights.

    Name my dog

I'm feeling old because no one mentioned it, but Art Scholl had a dog named Aileron who would jump in the plane for his routine. And Art pulled an incredible amount of Gs

    Rachet tie down question

^except that the 1500 pounds is cancelled out by the weight of the plane, so all you have to restrain is the "and then some" part

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

Fair enough. I'm absolutely not a Mooney hater, I've just learned that unless you shag them pretty hard the aren't that much faster than the planes we consider to be slow. What speed mods does your E have?

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

I've got tons of time in a 231 and love that airplane. Useful load of the one I flew was close to 1100 lbs. The reason some people think they don't haul much is because they have large fuel tanks. Certainly compared to an early Bonanza they carry an obscene amount of fuel when you want to. Four...

Am I crazy for considering a V-Tail Bo?

How do you figure? Four butts and bags. Wheels come up. Far more common than a (factory) turbo V tail Bonanza. Now if you're talking A-36/T-36 I tend to agree.

    Old Continental engine - supportable?

Ask the engine builders. At our part 135 operation we have two C172Ms with the O-360 conversion. One idiot pilot whacked some taxi way lights requiring a teardown. We shopped the entire country for the engine and were told 3-6 months. We almost bought a beater C172 just to get the engine, but...

    Old Continental engine - supportable?

You can't get a new crank, but you can certainly get a serviceable one that can be inspected and ground. Is there even an STC to put an O-320 on an early C172?

    Old Continental engine - supportable?

You'll be sitting for months and months waiting for an O-360. Parts for the O-300 are obtainable. Press on.

    Dan Gryder Lockheed Electra Crash

Five pages in and I'm still at: Wait. So the right brake fails, and the plane swerves left and meets vegetation. THEN, the right engine won't shut down with the mixture, mags or fuel shut off.

Bill Anders, Apollo 8 astronaut, crashes in Puget Sound

It's my recollection from the book. I'm not where I can research it. Does "was not a successful launch" fill in until I'm able to get back to you? In this day and age we would certainly not think the outcome of the second launch justified strapping humans to the next rocket.

Bill Anders, Apollo 8 astronaut, crashes in Puget Sound

I thought Apollo 8 was a good book too. I asked Greg Anders about it. He said Bill didn't care for the book because it had a lot of inaccuracies, and recommended Rocketmen.

Bill Anders, Apollo 8 astronaut, crashes in Puget Sound

That was probably one of Bill's sons Greg, who is a very approachable guy. The whole family is really nice. That was not a loop. Indeed. For the curious, I highly suggest the book/audio book "Rocketmen". Apollo 8 was way sketchier than Apollo 13. Third launch of a Saturn V (the second one...
