Cheapest way to build retract time

    Perhaps a Mooney Mite?

    Self serve fuel pump etiquette

I’ve seen a lot of cases where there is no awareness of what is going on in the world around people too. I suspect that is a big contributor to people finding fuel pumps and taxiways being blocked, among other things. At my home airport the worst time of the year for this stuff is before...

    Continental 0470 R - Cylinder Replacement Inevitable?

Depends on their capabilities. Some repairs are outside the scope of what some engine shops can or are willing to do. And depending on the shop, you may not want them touching some things. Same thing is true for any engine machine work, aircraft or not.

Stuck- REALLY Stuck Valves - O-200

I’ve heard of one engine overhauler that mainly does big Continentals that was claiming that as well. Personally, I’ve seen no evidence of it causing trouble.

Stuck- REALLY Stuck Valves - O-200

I can tell you of two cases where small Continentals were run exclusively on mogas for hundreds of hours and stuck one or more valves on startup after an hour or two of running 100LL followed by an overnight stay while traveling. In those cases my suspicion has been that the extended use of...

Seek input on buying a LSA

Don't forget that the maintenance rules are stricter for an S-LSA than the typical TCd aircraft as well. I expect that eventually all the S-LSAs will become E-LSAs as they age, the manufacturers disappear or no longer support their aircraft, and as parts become difficult to find. Unless a person...

    Why switched grounds?

That has been my observation as well. I’m left wondering where all these switched grounds are, as I’ve seen relatively few in the light airplanes and helicopters I work on.

    Continental A75 reassembly/overhaul....

It has been a long time since I’ve done much of anything with an A65 or A75 but Poplar Grove was willing to overhaul one back then. If closer sources don’t work out you might try calling them to see what they say.

    Aiplane to helicopter

Sounds like a private add on with those numbers. It is unclear what the OP is looking for but it will require more for a commercial level rating.

Nose wheel tire flat - unclear why

Close to 100% of the flats on light airplanes that I’ve repaired could be traced back to neglect on maintaining adequate tire pressure. I usually ask the person with the flat tire when the last time they checked the tire pressure was and am often met with an answer along the lines of “I don’t know.”

    Aiplane to helicopter

Going from memory, about the only experience that counts that you’d have would be your total flight time. You’re going to need to complete all the requirements in category.

    PA-46 down in Anderson, IN

The aircraft owner (and presumably pilot) was a friend of mine. I know that aircraft fairly well.

    Rudder usage while retracting gear

The PA46 rotates the nose wheel sideways as it is retracted.

    Pre buy DURING an annual

Aircraft move all over the place for maintenance. Just because this particular aircraft is not being inspected/serviced at its home airport doesn't mean that the mechanic performing the work isn't the regular service provider. As mentioned, the only opinion on an aircraft's condition that...

Good place to hide a spare key on plane?

Use a piece of lock wire and strap the key to something in the engine compartment. Or, just don’t worry about it. Lots of aircraft have no key.

    ELT frequencies

Point taken, my only intent was to state it was not a 406 ELT.

    ELT frequencies

The AK-450s were 121.5 mHz only. They also have an AD against them that needs compliance. The 406 mHz ELTs are a good upgrade and should be considered even in locations that don’t require them.

How to tell if a magneto is coupled or not?

I agree 100%, especially on the topic at hand. The nice thing about the OP having an E/AB is that there are avenues that could be explored for an alternative solution that might be better than what those with TCd aircraft have available to them. I mainly brought the AD up so the OP was aware...
