    Cessna 182, vs 206

I think it's a tour company (Akwe) but they were offline when I checked.

    Cessna 182, vs 206

It sold quickly and made its way to Alaska.

What age is appropriate to start flight lessons?

Could that be because we don't expect that of them when they're younger? Think "helicopter" parents . . .

What age is appropriate to start flight lessons?

We have an excellent youth program at Sugarbush, Vermont, which is probably too far out of the way for most people, although it's a 7 day overnight camp. I've been towing there for the past 10 years and am amazed to see some of the kids solo at age 14 and get certified at 15, many starting as...

    Private Sale or Broker?

Final Update: I had two buyers (both were ready to put down a deposit) bail out after I provided pictures of mild interior corrosion. It was a light surface oxidation ("snowflakes") on the top surfaces of the skins where warm moist air rises up and condenses as it cools on the interior of the...

How much ethanol is too much

Aha! No, I wasn't. My bad. The STC is for autofuel, but non-ethanol only. We have that in abundant supply in Vermont, although it's more expensive than high octane auto gas. Mechanics have recommended that it be mixed with Avgas periodically for the beneficial effect of lead, which the old...

How much ethanol is too much

How did I get my STC for the Cub to use auto gas? The Cub had rubber fuel lines and rubber gaskets and maybe an aluminum fuel tank (not sure about the tank).

    Jittery volts/amps

Not eveyone gets my sarcasm . . . But I think the wing breaking off would be a bigger problem. ;)

    Jittery volts/amps

This alone sounds like a really bad in-flight problem.

    Jittery volts/amps

Loose connection to the voltage regulator on my C206. Easy fix once discovered.

[NA] Looking for an entrepreneur . . .

That applies to most restaurants, particularly with outdoor seating. But most all restaurants don't have the leeway to rotate rectangular tables without creating more disorder.

    Tricky tumor question

I did both too. The advantage of having two before you need it is that when something comes up that makes you unable to meet the requirements for certification (e.g.high blood pressure, kidney stones, various tumors that require an extensive workup, etc., etc.) you don't necessarily need to...

    Tricky tumor question

Or go "hybrid" - have them both while you sort things out.

What would you do if you won $100k?

On the other end of this question, I just more or less "inherited" over twice that amount by selling my C206 that I can't fly. Then there's also the no-longer-needed expenses of insurance, maintenance, hangar, fuel, and a few others all of which I would HAPPILY keep paying to continue. Please...

What would you do if you won $100k?

Save it for an overhaul that I hadn't planned on. ;)

Do you turn around to inspect your run-up spot for leaks?

The engine was running without leaking when it was put away. The leak would have had to start when it was NOT running then become evident after start up. It's a risk managment action that I'm comfortable doing while taxiing and on take off, where the struts and windshield visualizations should...

Do you turn around to inspect your run-up spot for leaks?

No. Why would you develop leaks that wouldn't be detected on the next preflight but would suddenly start on the next flight? I just monitor the struts (especially the left one) periodically during the whole flight. I've had the experience of early loss of oil on takeoff, usually due to a...

    Grounded for not talking

As you know, the FAA laws and the laws of physics are entirely different.

    Grounded for not talking

Technically you can't. If the radio is "installed equipment" you can, however, do that with a logged entry (which the pilot can usually perform) and a placard labelling the radio as inop. Ninety nine percent of the time you can get away with the shortcut, until you have an accident that was...
