Eastern stops - PA, OH, IN

Any opinions/other thoughts on the following route other than it is a ton of flying for one day? Leaving Tuesday morning early from Chatham, MA (Cape Cod). Day one will get me to KDBQ (Dubuque, IA) and day two in the morning will take me to Ripon/Fisk. Thinking about this route...

Register now for Beyond The Weather Brief in Williamsport, Pennsylvania!

Good to hear. The date didn't work out for me in June (camping with my son instead). I will attend in September once it is announced. Any idea where?

FS: Seattle Avionics Skypad 2 - Lifetime Data (EFB)

One clarification for those that click on the link and see the $995 price from Seattle Avionics directly. This is NOT for the lifetime data (that costs $829 more). Mine has the lifetime data. You won't ever have to pay subscription fees again.

FS: Seattle Avionics Skypad 2 - Lifetime Data (EFB)

I have a Skypad 2 netbook/tablet system for sale. This is a complete EFB solution and is less than six months old. Selling to free up some funds and paper will work for me for a while. Read more at http://seattleavionics.com/SkyPad.aspx Note: Mine actually has a real keyboard and flips...

    Sunglasses

I agree with Ron. I think it depends on the degree of astigmatism but I am VERY happy with my Oasis (JohnsonJohnson) contacts for astigmatism. Everyone's eyes are different but after most of my life with glasses I switched a few years ago and see just as well or better with the contacts. Worth...

    Plane crash at Spencer Airport

RIP, this is just awful. These kind of crashes really make me think about my own flying, when I see someone with significant experience end up in a situation like this. Hopefully the cause will be found. Jeff

What to use instead of RunwayFinder

navmonster.com RIP. I also found it very valuable, and did not use it at all for "overlaying a course over a chart". Let's see, in the last week it is runwayfinder, Nacomatic, and now navmonster all because the little guy is under attack and cannot fight back. I also found it very valuable...

    Weekend Instrument Written Prep Courses

The standard canned answer probably applies here: Depends on your learning style. I did something similar but instead used the King IFR course DVDs and just went through them in a weekend cram fashion. That worked for me, but then again I enjoy John and Martha.

    Magneto Problem??... HELP!! :(

Apparently I am missing something. Sure, new slick mags cost $1800 with the new plugs. I spent $800 total for both mags. Not worth an extra $1,000 to me for new.

    Magneto Problem??... HELP!! :(

Depends obviously on what you need once the inspection happens, but for both of my Bendix mags it came out to $800 total. We changed the capacitors which was a choice I made, it would have been less without. Jeff

    Magneto Problem??... HELP!! :(

I just had mine inspected by Andy Richards (http://www.themagnetoshop.com) and was very happy with the results. Reasonable to ship there, and they will be in great shape when you get them back. Jeff

Getting back into flying: need recommendation for training material

I also left around the same timeframe (1992) with half the hours (80) and returned at the end of 2007. Since then I have purchased an aircraft and am going for my instrument rating this summer. When I returned, I traded in my VHS copies of the King Private Pilot Ground school and updated...

    FS: Seattle Avionics Skypad

Mike: I do still have it. I ended up describing the item wrong, so I needed to cancel the auction. Turns out that when you sell the skypad, the purchaser needs to purchase a license for Voyager (at half price - which is a good deal). I am still willing to sell it so please PM me if you want...

    FS: Seattle Avionics Skypad

60 Gig HD, absolutely no problems at altitude. When I bought it Seattle Avionics stated that the need for a SSD is really for over 12,000+ ft. You can get one for this, but in my Cherokee I rarely am over 9,500. Jeff

    FS: Seattle Avionics Skypad

I am selling my Seattle Avionics Skypad. If you are interested, it is up on eBay at this time. Works great. Starts at $349, buy it now at $625 (free shipping on that one). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270582565031 Thanks, Jeff

    Your Summer Flying Plans

I'm going to get my instrument rating this summer via the accelerated route, or at least that is the plan. Written test this coming up weekend. Just trying to make the final choice for where I go to get the training.

    Seattle Avionics - Skypad

I've owned the original Skypad since last September (bought it at Oshkosh). I have been at times impressed with the in flight capabilities and at others beyond frustrated. Keep in mind they just introduced what looks like a new lenovo tablet pc which replaces the one I have and fixes some of...

    Your Summer Flying Plans

I am planning on doing an accelerated IFR. Thinking of heading to Maine to work with one of the local FBOs. Looks like that makes more $$ sense than one of the pricier accelerated programs. I will report back after it is done. Jeff
