Any opinions/other thoughts on the following route other than it is a ton of flying for one day? Leaving Tuesday morning early from Chatham, MA (Cape Cod). Day one will get me to KDBQ (Dubuque, IA) and day two in the morning will take me to Ripon/Fisk. Thinking about this route...

I agree with Ron. I think it depends on the degree of astigmatism but I am VERY happy with my Oasis (JohnsonJohnson) contacts for astigmatism. Everyone's eyes are different but after most of my life with glasses I switched a few years ago and see just as well or better with the contacts. Worth...

The standard canned answer probably applies here: Depends on your learning style. I did something similar but instead used the King IFR course DVDs and just went through them in a weekend cram fashion. That worked for me, but then again I enjoy John and Martha.

Apparently I am missing something. Sure, new slick mags cost $1800 with the new plugs. I spent $800 total for both mags. Not worth an extra $1,000 to me for new.

Depends obviously on what you need once the inspection happens, but for both of my Bendix mags it came out to $800 total. We changed the capacitors which was a choice I made, it would have been less without. Jeff

60 Gig HD, absolutely no problems at altitude. When I bought it Seattle Avionics stated that the need for a SSD is really for over 12,000+ ft. You can get one for this, but in my Cherokee I rarely am over 9,500. Jeff

I'm going to get my instrument rating this summer via the accelerated route, or at least that is the plan. Written test this coming up weekend. Just trying to make the final choice for where I go to get the training.

I am planning on doing an accelerated IFR. Thinking of heading to Maine to work with one of the local FBOs. Looks like that makes more $$ sense than one of the pricier accelerated programs. I will report back after it is done. Jeff
