    Holds

This is the first ILS TAA I think I've seen. They may be more common nowadays than I'm thinking as I mostly fly into airports with only RNAV IAPs so don't see many ILS's outside of the sim.

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

We made it back to Tampa around noon today by way of a couple of days in Indiana visiting friends. Got some good IMC time on the way home at 9000. Once we crossed into Florida we were over fields of cotton. This was our 10th year flying in and we’re already looking forward to our 11th.

Lance air down short of 36 OSH

Unfortunately our Osh trip is at its end. We’ll fly out first thing tomorrow morning to Indiana to see friends that we see in our way home every year. Then it’s back to the grind on Monday. :(

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

We’ve rented a travel trailer for Osh for the past 4 years including this year. The first year was from one of the local dealers (Kunes) and it’s the most expensive route and the trailers don’t come with anything in them. We then went through RVShare and that worked out well. We’ve rented from...

    RV inline fuel filter

99.9% of the US built RV-10s, myself included, run a similar inline fuel filter with no gascolater.

    EAA life membership value?

I volunteer at both and I’m not aware of anyone that thinks SnF is a second class event. However it is different and smaller by a significant margin. And it used to be EAA sponsored but that was over years ago.

    EAA life membership value?

Not new you can’t which was my point. A new tricked out RV-10 is cheaper than a new 172. So what you’re saying is you can get a used standard certificated aircraft cheaper than a new E-AB which is true.

    EAA life membership value?

Just so everyone’s tracking SnF is not an EAA sponsored event and is roughly a quarter of the size of OSH so it’s not a good comparison between the two. There a lot of vendors that don’t attend SnF because they don’t have the travel budget to attend more than one event so they go where the money...

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

Made it and now let the fun begin!

    EAA life membership value?

True, but I don't think those folks you mention really skew the overall membership numbers but I've no evidence to back my position. There's really no EAA alternative so I stand by my opinions.

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

There are inbound/outbound traffic and site maps located here:https://www.eaa.org/airventure/plan-your-eaa-airventure-trip/maps As for the wristbands you'll need to go to the main entry gate.

When is planning to leave as we're departing Friday the 26th?

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

We're packing the plane this afternoon with a target launch of 0700 on Friday so we'll be a couple of hours behind you. Is your buddy that's driving still coming and need a parking spot? If so what are the dates?

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

Yes. They won’t know. Since you’ll most likely taxi together in trail it shouldn’t be an issue to collectively arrive at the same row in GAC. Maybe lead can have a sign in addition to GAC that says something to the effect he’s #1 of a flight of 3.

    EAA life membership value?

Compare apples to apples— new vs new. How does that new RV-10 stack up against a new 172? EAA isn’t what it used to be but neither is GA. Funny thing is a just reread a thread over on the EAA Forums from 12 years ago that mirrors a lot of the discussion in this thread. The gist being that...

    EAA life membership value?

TImes have changed. EAA simply changed as its membership and the environment it operates in changed--for better or worse. The pilot/builder population with a proclivity to tilt at less popular kits, much less plans only designs, is getting smaller by the day. I wouldn't use Forum/workshop...

    Oshkosh 2024 - Who's going?

We'll fly up from Tampa on Friday. Historically it's been a 7 hr IFR trip for us that includes a 20-30 min fuel/potty stop halfway up terminating with an IFR approach into OSH. In fact, I just reserved our IFR arrival slot a few minutes ago.

Since when have transponders been on for the VFR Fisk Arrival

Here’s the actual timeline’s and NOTAM instructions: 2015 and before: transponders to standby within 30 miles of OSH 2016-2018: non-ADS-B equipped aircraft transponders to standby within 30 miles of OSH (later amended to at or before RIPON), ADS-B out equipped leave transponders on 2019 to...

    EAA life membership value?

Yeah I know folks hate S40 (and know it's getting better as I drive from there to Basler so get to see all of the OSH parking/camping areas to include most of Scholler firsthand) but how many have other options other than N40? But my point is I'm thinking it's not a huge number of folks with...

    EAA life membership value?

On things like EAA's definition of what's Vintage, they have to draw the line somewhere and based upon the GA fleet size and composition I think it's a decent compromise. I guess you could quibble +/- 10 years, but what difference would it make? I mean are tons of people bent out of shape that...
