I plan on getting an ipad with 4g. Just wondering how much bandwidth you guys use when in flight and what data plans you have with your carrier.

Supposedly it's suppose to go over the Golden Gate Bridge and down the peninsula to NASA Ames. I'm hoping I get to see this but I'm crossing my fingers because the fog doesn't start to burn til 11AM. :(

This is true. On 7/3 I did a night flight from HWD to SAC. As a good student I did my normal check on weather on DUAT and also did a phone briefing before my flight. I make sure to ask if there are any TFR's and nope, none in route of flight. On the way back I heard another pilot mention a TFR...

I'm thinking bout learning the G1000. Do you need a yoke to use the Garmin s/w? Can I get away with just getting FSX to learn the G1000 or should I buy the Garmin s/w?

I had my checkride last Friday. I scheduled it 2 weeks in advance. Gave me some time to casually study for the oral and practice some maneuvers.

As much as I enjoy listening to ATC communication that was tough to listen too. :( Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone! I'll be slowly building up some time and hopefully next year start on my instrument rating. :) STS is still considered the Bay! The North Bay. :) I have a few friends who went to schools at RHV and SQL and their checkride was in the central valley!

Head up from HWD to STS yesterday to take my PPL checkride and passed. It was a beautiful and smooth flight. The oral portion took bout an hour but seemed to be quick. DPE went through all of the stuff in the PTS. Some stuff I wasn't sure about like what happens if a required item for flight...

Adium for Mac? I use Adium and thought it was only a IM client. Didn't realize it had additional features for editing audio files. Unless you are talking about Audacity? ;)

You can probably find some free audio editing software. Open up the mp3 and you will see the wave pattern. Flat line = no sound. :) Just skip to see where you see the wave pattern and play.

I've also seen this before on the bay bridge. My son and wife noticed it first while I was driving. At first I thought they were talking about a banner plane but when I looked up I haven't seen any smoke letters like that before.
