Kicking Myself over this - C182P

Alrighty professional tire kickers.... What is wrong with this plane? http://www.trade-a-plane.com/detail/aircraft/Single+Engine+Piston/1964/Cessna/182G+Skylane/2065687.html Ya, I know it's got the old skool ADF but the airport I'd likely base an aircraft at has a localizer approach that makes...

    Moo Moo Mooo

 As for the airbus design... you thought the unruly rugrat kicking you in the back was bad..... Now, if he's on the upper level, he can kick you in the head! Good times.

    KRDU

I'm familiar with Ocracoke having been there on a bunch of vacations by ferry and by sailboat. What I haven't done yet is fly out there. My plan has been to fly down to Manteo and then follow the outer banks down. That adds flight time, but fits my idea of safe. Am I being a chicken by...

How to get my students to stop taxiing with the yoke?#?!?

Funny and true. I feel like I'm putting on the brakes when I put in the flaps in a Cherokee. It's different than the feeling you get slowly deploying electric flaps. I guess I could pull the lever slower.

    The road to CFI....

This place cracks me up. Looks like we've established he's an idiot for wanting to get the rating and his Master's degree is worthless. To the OP, life is short, if you want to be a CFI go for it!

How to get my students to stop taxiing with the yoke?#?!?

Patience. Most students come in with years of experience steering with their hands. They can't actually steer on the ground with the yoke so eventually the fact that it doesn't do anything will register with their brains and they'll stop trying. My 2 cents as a low timer, not an instructor.

    FAA SAFO on Logging Approaches

OK... I've skimmed through a couple of times. For some reason I thought you had to have an instructor alongside if using a SIM but this seems to say you could do your currency work with a BATD all by yourself. ??

Confused about high costs of flying clubs & fractional ownership

I agree on clubs. Clubs seem to have a million and one rules, bylaws, etc.... The savings aren't THAT great. Keeping a 172 in the air costs what keeping a 172 in the air costs. It doesn't matter if you're flying it as a club member, renting it by the hour, or owning it yourself. Single...

    AOPA Forum Dying?

I have no clue about the AOPA boards or the purple boards. This is the only pilot message board I've visited and I think it's great. Enough post volume to seem alive but not overwhelming. I'd classify 95% of posts as friendly. That's darn good for the internet. Ignore the trolls and...

    A36 down at KGSO

Looking at the headings and speeds, ground speed was low but he wasn't climbing near the end. Perhaps he stalled while trying to get back on course? He could have been focused on navigating and lost track of flying...
