good inexpensive headset or a waste of money

I bought a Sigtronics S-20 headset when I started training a couple of years ago. It still works fine. I also bought a nicer Lightspeed ANR headset from a coworker who gave up on flying lessons. The lightspeed headset is nicer and ANR is nice ...but.... for quick local flights I...

When will I know I can't make the cut

I'll echo what others have said that you need to shop around for a more compatible CFI. I don't care if they're young or old, male or female, martian or human, but they need to be compatible with YOU. You're paying this person ~$50/hour to TEACH YOU to fly. If you're not making progress...

    The other airplane raffle

I'm not surprised..... I'd love to have a Cherokee Six but what exactly would I be "winning"? An engine with 3100 hours! It'll be interesting to see what it sells for on ebay.

    [NA]National News Sources[NA]

You hit the nail on the head but I find myself contributing to the problem. If you go to cnn.com you'll find legit news but you'll also find the same tabloid crap that fills the enquirer. I often find myself clicking on "the 12 scariest airports", for example, and then realizing I've been...

Why I like to fly alone "sometimes"

I think it's all good, for the reasons folks listed above. I like being alone, in general, so flying alone is relaxing. Having a passenger along often brings back the thrill because to them it's a big deal. Hmmm.... now that I think about it, the passengers who think it's fun make it fun...

Best test prep software IR written exam?

Will Sheppard Air spit out some official looking practice test results? My CFII he'd sign me off (for the written) when I was scoring well on practice tests. I think I answered my own question with older POA thread : http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68545

Do Not Try This At Home

Patience paid off! I'm sure the view from inside the chopper would confuse me initially.... ship itself was providing a false horizon.

    28 Wierd/Cool planes

I made it through the first few.... interesting but I HATE those type websites. The tease-you-with-a-list-overwhelm-you-with-ads style of web page needs to die.

    A rant about dishwasher shopping....

 Somebody who thinks like me. Our dishwasher died a few years ago so me, the wife, and the daughter go to Sears to do some dishwasher shopping. Holy crap! The wife immediately gravitated towards the $1000+ models. Really? To wash dishes? It's an appliance, it doesn't need to...
