I'm kinda shocked this question hasn't been asked - but if you see traffic at 10 o'clock, visually or on your ADSB-IN, Why did you allow him to get within 200' of you?
So customer #2 buys a full price refundable ticket, and never shows, gets a refund. Had they not oversold, they lost the fare.
If it wasn't profitable to overbook, they wouldn't do it. plane and simple.
They get 2 fares for 1 seat if person #2 never shows, for any flight. Had they not oversold, they would have only received 1 fare and flown an empty seat.
I think the point is that they can force you to leave, sure. However, if you have a contract you can then take that up civily. But for the the immediate issue, if the owner says leave, you leave. Then you sue.

I'd say the engine what-if is a huge what-if... I can guarantee with 100% certainty that I will never overhaul my engine. It currently has ~600hours on it.. the plane will be sold long before I ever get anywhere near 2000... I'd guess more planes are sold prior to TBO, and in turn most high time...
Was it so far off? "derivation obsessional neurosis". Opening separate bank accounts for different pots of money for what-if events of an airplane? Couldn't that be simply done on a spreadsheet? Do you open separate accounts for your electric? water? grocery? gas? cars? engine on your cars...
I have a friend whom I trust greatly rents from me. I added him as a named insured on my policy (only went up $70/yr, and the following year it dropped $100), so basically cost nothing to add him. I give him a fair dry price and it helps me do extra's to the plane. So far nice new concorde...
