N/A —Thinking about a Hyundai Veloster

Chrysler Fiat is headquartered in the Netherlands with a tax "HQ" of London, UK. Honda/Acura, Kia, and Toyota each make a vehicle with more domestic content, not just assembly, than all but 8 other models available on the US market. In other words, there are only 8 models (not makes) of...

    302/Cobra Engine Build

Well, not on a 6.8L, but why not stick a 6-71 blower on your choice of junkyard 302's (since you seem to want a Ford engine...), underdrive the blower to 5-6psi and let her eat. Don't even look at the bottom end, just feed it more fuel and keep the boost low. You'll get your hp #'s and look...

    [N/A] Painting the Cobra Frame

I had a Massey 135, 1966ish, that by all evidence had the factory paint on the factory tins. Wasn't pretty, but it was still red and grey 50+ years later. That concession made, I'd have it professionally powder coated because all of my home painting endeavors have not held up near as well as...

[NA] Cop hits cyclist head on!

That's the litmus I use with every shooting, car accident, etc. when a LEO is involved: "If an everyday Joe did EXACTLY what he/she did, what would the outcome be?" Usually the answer to that question is far from the actual outcome. Which is frustrating.

I can't make sense of this crash

You reminded me how much of what my professors were saying in statics, dynamics and deforms sounded like the teacher from Charlie Brown. But, as they say, C's earn degrees!

    Vicious killer snake!

I fear[kill] venomous snakes on behalf of my two fearless[idiot] dogs. I catch and relocate all others (mostly because the female dog harasses black snakes into biting her). My wife has the super duper irrational version of snake phobia. She was behind me as I opened a garage door from the...

Which Winch for my Trailer and how to mount?

Have a 9k Chinese winch (I got it off Craigslist for a song, but I believe the branding was tractor supply). Has worked great and lasted quite a while. Used on my equipment trailer, my previous f350 and my Trooper...2nd two vehicles usage always included either mud or saltwater. Have already...

    Cheap Kit Car

No snow, and we rented a '15 Vette 7spd for 5 days and decided that we loved it... But it's more than a little impractical. 2nd gen CTS-V gets you a little closer on practicality and 100hp more than the base Vette to help carry that extra weight. On the kit car front, sounds like a Cobra...

    Cheap Kit Car

Didn't you mean to say CTS-V? :D And 'wagon', and 6 times the price? 3 pedals only. I'm in my first automatic in a decade...company vehicle...against my will...and I find myself constantly cussing at it. I'm guessing the transmission programming is all boogered up/tied to emissions stuff...

    Going to Outer Banks, NC

I lived at 9.5MP (Kill Devil Hills...spitting distance from First Flight). My roommate worked 4 days a week at a place that was literally 2 minutes from our house. The 5th day was at their Duck location. Wouldn't you know, they'd often schedule her for Saturday in Duck. The 13+/- Miles from...

    Installed Another Solar Security Light

Out of curiosity, why? It's available to the public every time you drive in public, yes? What info could be gleaned from a tag number and an internet forum moniker? Truly curious as I've never been worried about it... Maybe I should be.

You too, could go Down in Flames.

Short story, kept short: I accidentally ran over my company iphone yesterday with my lawn mower. 27hp Exmark vs iphone 7...iphone lost. When I went to pick up the partially shredded battery, it was hot as hell. Did not burn down my lawn mower though.

    Car Tires

In 4.80-8, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything but cheap Chinese tires.

    NA - Car Wax

I agree with everything you said, but I'm going to replace "you need to" with "someone needs to". :D I don't have peeling clear coat... Just discoloration. Though I reckon that could represent an early stage of failure. Do body shops do this kind of work?

    Car Tires

Before you bow out @Mike Smith , check this out. I'm sitting in my front porch when my buddy pulls down the driveway with his jet ski behind him. Hops out and says, "I think I have a flat or something on the trailer...Started shaking real bad...but i was close to your house, so I just came on."...

    NA - Car Wax

My high mileage Ford truck might soon be on the chopping block... All this talk of wax has me wondering, A.) How far gone is too far gone for [black] paint? (I have areas that have what i can only describe as an oil sheen kind of look on the doors, just below the windows.) And B.) How do I pick...

    Wet in Denver?! Whaaaasaat???

Ask my wife about that "normally we're dry..." We were in Denver for 4 days earlier this year. My wife had some tourism brochure that she kept pointing to through the snow and rain that touted Denver's 300+ days of sunshine per year. Our visit hit during the other 65 days, apparently. She'd...

    Car Tires

Performance and longevity tend to be inversely correlated. I have had an inordinate number of vehicles and have never been afraid to try a tire outside of the big brands. Have had mixes successes and failures; same could be said about my purchases from the bigger brands. Fleet currently has...

    #RunningIntoTheSky

I see guys flying down the shore line at like 50' agl with motors strapped to their backs... They're always making lazy turns. My assumption is the turns represent the cadence of their beer sipping since presumably you can't drop all those kite strings to put the can to your mouth.
