    Solo... Finally

Congrats. My first attempt was also thwarted by a mx issue. Flew an hour in the morning, winds were calm, flying was fine...we put the plane away and my instructor said, "tell ya what, go get lunch, and if this day stays this beautiful, meet me back at the hangar and you're going to solo"...

    Plastic Motorcycle Fairing Repair

When I used to race ATVs, every wreck would break some piece of plastic. If it was an expendable piece of plastic ( front fenders being the primary example) I cut it off. If it needed to be on there, I drilled small holes along either side of the crack and zip-tied it like stitches. I tried...

Local plane on craigslist, now on Kathyrn's Report

Very few planes pop up on Craigslist in my area...so I happened to notice this one...then a few days later, I noticed it on the news, in a field about a mile from my old house (which was 4 miles south of the airport...and 1 mile north of a grass strip. He's close to the grass strip). Strange...

Anybody gonna fly your airplane to see the total eclipse of the Sun?

Flying (commercial) to Charleston SC Thursday for a long weekend and hopefully a view of the eclipse, then driving/riding home with friends. But if anyone is flying general aviation from the area headed north (passing SE VA airports) either Monday or Tuesday, gladly pay our fair and legal share...

For Sale: Club Membership New Flight Club - Las Vegas. NV

We have 10 members (5-6 active) in a club 172. At $100/mo plus $75/hr wet, we still ended up in the hole with one bad annual... Your numbers may be low to actually be financially viable. Clubs in general, I'm a big fan of. Good luck.

Anyone work for Honda Jet in Greensboro?

I have a friend of a friend there. Will take a while to get my message from Virginia to Reidsville and then Reidsville to Greensboro, then backwards through the chain of acquaintances; but I'll be glad to try.

Question to all pilots, cabin crew and anyone else who flies regularly

He or she is related to the Mensa member that decided high dollar boat MFD's would all be touch screen. My current model is a hybrid (still has a knob, and a few hard-key's) and even with that, when it's sporty out there I end up mashing the wrong button, or spot on the screen, about 50% of the...

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

Turbo? 03-early 04 turbo's scream like a banshee. They shifted to a 13 blade impeller from 10 blade and it quieted down after 2004.25. My manual 6.0 has a come and go whine that my automatic does not. I've never been able to narrow down, is not the turbo, and is possibly my downpipe...

Idiot killed by jet blast at St Maartin

Little harsh... Like most mistakes involving unfamiliar situations, you don't know until you know... And sometimes that's too late. I don't disagree that it's pretty clear that it's not a good idea to hang out waiting on jet blast, but it's still unfortunate.

Thinking About (ok bought) F-350 with PowerStroke 6.0L - Questions

VGT is monitoring/displaying commanded vs actual. Can still be useful if it's commanding min or max (15-80 or some such range) for any lengthy period as that points to it not seeing the results it's expecting from the percentage it commanded.
