    Hiatus and return...

Glad to see the all too familiar "hot topics" haven't died down. Feels like home 'round here!

    Hiatus and return...

Ha! Actually, funny thing about the med. I had my med I think in January 2011. Didn't get to take a lesson for a while, so thinking I had to renew it, I renewed it in February of 2014. So I'm still good with my Class III/Student Cert. Probably could have done things differently I guess, but oh...

    Flight Bag You Actually Use

Great thread, I'm in the market. I was using a WalMart backpack, but my Rod Machado book at 86lbs has worn a hole in it. I like both of these... http://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/flight-bags-kneeboards/flight-gear-bags/flight-gear-hp-ipad-bag.html...

    Hiatus and return...

Hey everyone! I'm quite sure nobody noticed, but I've been on hiatus. Just posted this list in another thread, but... -Birth of a child -Job change -House purchase -Family issues -Work travel (extensive, for those of you who I'm friends with on Facebook can see...) -Home improvements ...have...

Ammount of time to get private license

I'm in this situation, and agree totally with the "life happens" answers. I'm a very good student! Read all the material thoroughly, great comprehension, confident, ask a lot of questions, and I've got an aviation family and friends backing me. But... -Birth of a child -Job change -House...

    TSA Pre-Check

My experience also. Another reason I was surprised at ORD today to see people emptying things and dressing down. I was very tempted to snap a photo for everyone, but after the younger kid in front of me started an argument with the TSA person because they wouldn't let him in with only his...

    TSA Pre-Check

Could have happened, but I did not see anyone trip the detector and come back through on the PreCheck side.

    TSA Pre-Check

I don't believe that there was anyone going through that didn't belong in that line. The screeners were sitting out front of both lanes, and you had to show your boarding pass to get in either the premier or the PreCheck. There were two machines running at the PreCheck, and a TSA person on each...

    Flying Mag $5 year

I signed up, I'll let you know as soon as I get it. I was disappointed looking in the photo that it's got a button on top. I got a really nice hat from the EAA for Christmas that I love. No button on top!

    TSA Pre-Check

Sitting in Chicago ORD right now, B17. Went through the routine today and I paid more attention. I'm on Lufthansa today, so this is in Terminal 1. The check-in desk didn't even take 2 minutes, but for the rest who were waiting in the other line it looked to be at least a 15 minute wait. If you...

Damage from Gust Lock Not Being Removed

Ah, pay no attention to that. This stupid last update is playing hell with my autocorrect. It is free and clear. Clear. CLEAR. Dammit! C-O-R-R-E-C-T And there we go...

    Ancestry dot com

I saw a few of the examples like you mentioned and thought the same thing. After digging deeper, they all turned out to be the wrong people with the same names except for one, which was a census error. It was so old though could have either been the citizens fault (who may not have been educated...

Damage from Gust Lock Not Being Removed

It sounds odd to me that the rudder would feel "free and clear" while clamped down. Not saying people are wrong here or making stuff up, just that it's hard to believe that it would feel free and clear with a lock on it.

Damage from Gust Lock Not Being Removed

Talking about the Caribou, I think it was, that took off and came right back down? That was a massive plane, if it's the same one I'm thinking of. Still amazes me how one could not notice that if they did a proper control check.

Damage from Gust Lock Not Being Removed

This is what surprised me. How could you proceed and even attempt to take off and not notice that they weren't, if you did a proper control check?

    TSA Pre-Check

This is my favorite card, well worth the $450 to me, but I use it almost everyday. Some of the benefits I'm aware of, although I'm sure there are more... -Free full rental vehicle coverage in most non-third world countries -Reimbursement for up to $250 per year for any airline fees -Travel...

Works very well. If you've got the time to sort through and verify all the options they present to you, you should see some pretty neat results. +1 on what Ron said above also. I would only caution to pay attention to the subscription terms, and the auto-renewals. More than once we've had...

    TSA Pre-Check

The TSA site, whether they are fully forthcoming or not, explains that it is "the more they know about you...". I doubt the airlines could advertise it as a perk, but even those who aren't in single carrier FF programs, I would be willing to bet that if you have profiles filled out, and/or you...
