Average pay for SWA $300k by 2020

Soft pay is important. We work at the same joint and I just pulled up my last pay register. YTD I've flown 640hrs, but have been paid for 815hrs. The SWA guys even have a more f'd up pay system with their trips for pay. They can can get paid north of 130TFPs if they game it.

After your second year at a major you're looking at six figures these days. and yes, it's an incredible job.

Average pay for SWA $300k by 2020

Not easy to answer, at least at my airline. A very basic formula would translate that to $300,000 in a year, but it's not that simple. To put it this way, someone who makes approx $200/hr can still pull off close to $270-$280k for the year. And I'm not talking about busting ass or having...

I now have Boeing 787 time in my logbook

I've done several CATIII approaches, but the lowest one I did was RVR 75m (think that equates to 300' on the chart) into BHX with a 757 several years ago. It was VERY impressive to see what that machine can do. You can't see anything except a centerline light whiz past. The grey runway didn't...

What do you tell a nervous passenger...

"Lady, do I look like some kind of daredevil to you?? I wouldn't go if the plane wasn't safe."

    A non-pilot asks.....

Am I trying to make a commute? That has a real bearing on the answer.

How much wind will you guys fly in?

You need to turn around.. the wind is pointing the wrong way :)

How much wind will you guys fly in?

Max Demo is/would be my limit, depending on the aircraft I'm flying. I've flown in 50G60 before and it is flat out NOT fun. Not just the wind and sizable xwnd component (approx 35-40ks), but the mechanical turbulence just kicks the **** out of everyone.

Do you really need a transponder ?

The first time I flew an airplane with a TCAS it blew my mind how many airplanes are out there and how many are so close yet invisible to the eye.

is your head in the cockpit

"I have been into class b,c,and d airports in my cub . a simple call ahead to the cab ,circle cab,use light signals works every time" So essentially you're using a crapier version of a radio (calling ahead via a voice communication system that is lacking actual real time communications) but are...

    Drunk Pilots Flying

If a pilot that has problems with alcohol asks for help, they will be entered into a program to help him. He won't be flying during this time. He also has to work on getting his medical back (proof of sobriety, etc.. whatever the FAA does, I'm not sure). He won't, however, be jailed or fired if...

    Airplane attitude when landing

What I'm getting at is you are overthinking it when mentioning the effects of humidity on the pitch attitude of a light aircraft (or any aircraft) on landing. As already mentioned before, the angle of your nose will depend on the aircraft you are flying. The airplane I fly happens to have about...

    Airplane attitude when landing

Ever seen Bull Durham? "Don't think, just pitch...." Don't think, just fly it. Aviation in three sentences: "Measure it with a micrometer. Mark it with a grease pencil. Chop it with an axe."

My trip from Daytona Beach to NASA Space Shuttle Landing Facility!

Not only that, in a lot (if not most) places in the state, when you look down through those trees you're likely to see the sun reflecting off the water that's at the base of them. Florida is nasty..

    Commercial Jet speed question

.83-.84 is the sweet spot for the 777. Unless someone has a tight commute. Then it's .85. That will knock off a few minutes on a 14hr flight.
