Probably very basic question...Dry adiabatic lapse rate vs. environmental lapse rate

Pretty much a crapshoot then? Let me rephrase.. is it helpful at all to glance at the Skew-T to say something like "Oh, better stay below 7000' for smoother air today" or "Looks like it's gonna be a rodeo anywhere below 15,000, better tighten those belts."? I've found low AIRMETs to be overly...

Probably very basic question...Dry adiabatic lapse rate vs. environmental lapse rate

Here's a practical question: How possible is it to reliably predict turbulence (or lack thereof) from the Skew-T plot?

DUI dismissed but FAA investigates anyways

Plans like this were reasonably priced just within the last 10 years. Now? Look up the deductibles and premiums on Bronze plans.. yikes!

    Lost focus in the flare

I like it. If more people did this, we could save a lot of time, bandwidth, and hurt.

    GoPro Wingtip Mounting

 Never mind, I guess that wouldn't work so well.

    GoPro Wingtip Mounting

I have a rubber-coated magnet mount for the GoPro that seems very strong. Thinking about sticking it on the wing of a 150 but not sure I have the courage yet. Maybe I can tether it somehow.

Unusual attitudes recovery practice Cessna 182

He'll be begging for mercy/forgiveness by the end of the day I'm sure. Nice video! How were the first couple of maneuvers initiated?

Looking to start a small flight school

Maybe we can repurpose a joke.. How do you get a small flight school running? Start with a large flight school. Whatever you do, good luck and keep us posted! It would be nice to see a small-time operation like this succeed. If I was a student, I can tell you I'd prefer a 172 for a few bucks more.

    Transition from 172 to 150

I did the same transition and found the 150 felt underpowered, but easier to land

Who has landed at the wrong airport?

True enough.. I'd like to say I've never missed a "dead give away," but it happens.

Who has landed at the wrong airport?

There are many things that "should never" happen when we go fly, but they do, and to good pilots too. Best to learn from them instead of telling people "That should never happen to you!"

Not that it is relevant but Vegas Shooter was a Pilot according to CNN.

There's truth to that. A pilot with a medical has been required to report any mental illness, medication, or doctor's visits. That is some form of evaluation, at least.

Sandbar touch and go. Bad idea. But legal?

The crazy thing here is, without prior coordination, there were three (3) camera angles. So just beware, if you do something even slightly questionable to other people, there's a good chance you'll be on camera. Maybe multiple cameras.

Sandbar touch and go. Bad idea. But legal?

What license? None needed if flying recreationally.

    KAUO on game weekends

I didn't retract anything, just tried to clarify that my first post was in jest. It is an open discussion board, but an emphatic word from the AIM that it "should not be used under any condition" ought to go a long ways towards settling this.

    KAUO on game weekends

Having trained and spent most of my time at fields where 3 in the pattern was crowded, I'd really like to see 11+! Wow.

    KAUO on game weekends

I should have added this: ;) Completely with you and I love your book. It was just my attempt at humor.. I couldn't stop myself when I saw the word "advise." Didn't mean to reopen the debate.

    KAUO on game weekends

In that case, why not just have planes coming in ask 'ATITPPA'? Then they can be advised.

Use this page: https://www.youtube.com/copyright_complaint_form If you own the video and can point it to your original video, they'll take it down fairly quickly.

Solar eclips - aka: the end as we know it...

This might be a good place for you or anyone else to check out. Right near the center of totality, off most peoples' radar from what I can tell, and looks like plenty of parking (Harvard, Nebraska, former military field). http://www.airnav.com/airport/08K
