Ramp agent reprimanded for reporting MX issue

Alright, so I work for Southwest. Obviously, since I'm on this forum, I'm a pilot myself. Additionally, prior to southwest, I worked for two other airlines and had nearly five years of experience working in the GA industry before that. Tonight, we had a plane come in. We offloaded it like...

Aerobatic/spin instruction for presolo student pilot

I'm not denying that. But if it happens, its best if you've already done a few with an instructor. Its like first aid. Its best to avoid getting hurt, but when it happens, it helps to know what to do.

Aerobatic/spin instruction for presolo student pilot

After a five year hiatus, I'm finally working on my PPL again. (First the hand-me-down truck my dad gave me died, prompting a newer car purchase that needed to be paid off. Then my parents kicked me out.) Anyway, before I solo, I'd like to get both upset attitude and actual spin training...

Tying down a plane with a tow hook?

Question says it all. Just found a plane with a tow hook that appears to have popped open in last night's 50kt gusts. Is there a way to lock it shut so it can be used as a tail tie down? Before anyone asks, its parked at the airport I work at. I have the authority to retie it.

    Paying for flight instruction insurance

He already offers tailwheel transition training for private pilots. I'm looking to do my primary training in it. It seems like it would be good to develop excellent stick and rudder skills while still a student pilot. Other aircraft such as 172's almost fly themselves.

    Paying for flight instruction insurance

I have two friends that are CFIs. One owns an R177 Cardinal. The other owns a Citabria. I'd like to ask them if they would be willing to teach me. The only issue is: thier insurance does not cover primary flight instruction. So, I had an idea. What if I paid the difference between thier...

    Why do pilots back taxi?

I work at Tipton Airport (KFME), in MD. We just had a charter pilot back taxi from the mid-field turnoff and taxi to the end of runway 28 before turning around to take of. My question is why? There is a taxiway running the entire length parallel to the runway and no one else was using it.

What does it mean to de-militarize a T-6 Texan?

Even if it couldn't fly, I'm sure at least one aviation museum would have paid more than scrap value for it.

Free stuff for attending siminars. Worth it?

How do you get on the mailing lists for these things? I'd gladly take an Ipad (poor college aviation student talking.)

Is it okay to take a quick nap while flying long distances?

I was flying with a friend last Summer (I had not even started flight training then) who handed to plane over to me (I had practically "flown" the plane before with no issues) and tool a five minute nap.

    Out of the Blue

S--- night last night, s--- day at work today. A conversation tonight I will remember. While I was at work, my "baby" sister (13) went horse back riding for the first time and liked it so much she wanted lessons. $500 for 13 lessons on top of the $90/ lesson they (my parents) already pay for...

How Hard Is It To Shoot Down A Small Drone?

Parents. And judging by the fact that I still live with them and they are paying my tuition and flight training, it looks like I'll have to deal with it for a while. That being said, I did have the opportunity to use a simulator (courtesy Army national guard) to fire an M4. And when I say...

    More Money for my School

Someone explain this logic to me, please. Evidently, as an aviation major at a community college, I am required to complete a communications course. Okay, well, I've been talking (using grammatically correct English, is I might add) for the past 15 years. Judging by the fact I made it through...

How Hard Is It To Shoot Down A Small Drone?

Why not use some sort of full auto shotgun? Get a gunsmith to modify an M2 (that's the famous .50, right?) to fire 12ga shot. Disclaimer: I have never fired live ammo from a gun and don't know if this is even possible.

Cleveland pilot decides to become a phony hero. Cost: $489,000

I'm in the CAP. I do SAR. I do not enjoy getting out of bed in the middle of the night to look for people. The only reason I do is because these people need help. If I wound up in a SAR operation like this, I might go after the guy.

Visit from CBP at my hangar

IMHO, these should be illegal. I read an article on AOPA where CBP came after a pilot GUNS DRAWN, with a K-9, and asked for consent to search. It was basically an "I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse" moment. Either he consented to the search or they would arrest him for...

So, student pilots.. Who are we and where do we stand?

Six hours towards my private while flying any time I can. The downsides of working and attending school full time.

    Where to get spin training

Learn from others mistakes. You can never make every mistake yourself, nor should you want to. I'm trying to take a lesson from this thread: http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70123

    Where to get spin training

Right now, I'm a student pilot with approx. six hours under my belt (and VERY slowly building time.) Back in January (before I found this forum,) my instructor and I started practicing stalls. Like most student pilots, I HATE stalls. Learning the procedure to recover from something is only...
