private pilots can be paid for flying as PIC?

Ok, but what about the free flight time? To be safe, I would not accept the $10 per hour payment and not log any PIC time. It sounds like an interesting program to participate in if done correctly.

private pilots can be paid for flying as PIC?

Yet -> A typical private pilot flies an airplane for reasons including pleasure, personal travel and business travel. It’s not unusual for passengers or even a boss to offer the pilot money to cover the cost of the flight in the same manner as reimbursing for car expenses. While this seems...

If you were to ride with Sean D. Tucker

As I fly a 65 H.P. 1946 J-3 Cub low & slow, it was a fantastic experience to fly with Sean and preform a few aerobatic maneuvers high and fast. He calmed my fears and made everything look and feel easy. With a few more hours under his tutelage, I believe even I could become an aerobatic pilot...

Have you flown a J-3 Cub?

Flew my J-3 today taking a B-29 pilot who flew 33 missions against Japan for a ride and then a 12 year old who had never flown. Can't get much better than this! Having fun -> https://vimeo.com/47426713 https://vimeo.com/46744165

If you were to ride with Sean D. Tucker

What would you ask him to do? Many years ago before I was married, I planned on taking aerobatic lessons. That idea was stopped when my wife said I could continue to fly as long as I didn’t do aerobatics. So, almost forty years later I will be flying this next Wednesday with one of the...

    Old Sectionals

I sold old sectionals (1930~1945) at AirVenture last year to help pay for the Grimes Field booth. I decided to skip having a booth this year. As I have thousands to sell, I may return next year to Oshkosh.

Fun with a Cub in the hanger

For the last three days, I have acted as a kind of technical advisor to a small Christian film company that is making a movie called “Wings on the Winds”. While Cubs and flying are only a small part of the film, it’s where the story line begins and ends. Wow, I am having fun when not even...

    Observations from AirVenture 2013

I had fun on the other side of the table for the first time in 25 plus visits. And, I am very thankful the weather was not hot. I want to thank all who stopped by to say hello and especially those that purchased old WWII sectional charts which helped me cover the $2,500 booth cost. While...

    Exhibitor List

With only a few days left till Oshkosh, I would be remiss if I didn’t invite you to my booth (3080) in building C at AirVenture. As I was a little late in deciding to do one of my bucket list items, the EAA only yesterday confirmed the booth number. I will miss flying the J-3 Cub but get to...

    UAV & me

Matt, As far as I know, everything is in the preliminary stages of planning. Most people at the Thursday meeting thought that extending the Class D from Springfield to Wright Pat with no VFR corridor was not the best idea. I expressed to the people present my thanks for being invited to the...

    UAV & me

Yes, the pads are a leftover from the F-16 and previous military jets that used the Springfield Air Guard base. From what I understand of the Air Force plans, the UAV's they are talking about are not the larger ones in group 4 (Predator, ect. ) or group 5 (Global Hawk ect.)

    UAV & me

Hello Matt, Yes, there was mention of using COA's (certificate of authorization) within the Class D airspace. One local college is using this to fly within the property bounds of the Springfield airport. One flight instructor stated at the Wednesday night meeting that several times he had to...

    UAV & me

As Pappy believes that it might take up to 5 years for the FAA to place a restricted area for UAVs on the map while the FAA might quickly approve using UAVs in a Class D airspace, he and unnamed others like the idea of creating and using a large Class D area between and around Wright Pat and...

    UAV & me

I attended an all-day Airspace and Infrastructure Work Group (AIWG) meeting last Thursday in Dayton, Ohio. I was invited to attend this meeting representing the interests of private pilots. The invitation occurred the preceding night when I was in attendance at an Ohio Airspace Integration Study...
