Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Doesn’t matter. Either way he shouldn't have told him that. A pilot is making a request for SVFR who already knows the weather at the destination. Either tell him “I have your request” or “cleared to enter the class D…”

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Well it’s like the comment you made about the controller in question. Obviously they didn’t know they could issue the SVFR based on what the pilot is reporting. You can bet there are more are out there. It’s like one time going into Bagram we received a SVFR clearance with 1.5 miles vis...

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Saw a thread on Stuckmic on that topic. Transitioning the class D VFR when the field is reporting IFR. It was probably split 50 / 50 with half saying it’s legal and the other half saying it’s not unless SVFR is given.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

My medcrew are always telling me how I’m such a rule follower. I tell them no, I just know the rules I’m breaking. Can’t stand people who don’t know their jobs.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

The transition to / from pattern altitude is only waived from 91.119.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

I’d say that’s a primary reason. I suppose it’s easier to inadvertently punch into the clouds as well if you’re skimming the tops / bottoms. Point being, no one is going to enforce that if you’re breaking BCC.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

It’s no different than cruising along in E and having less than BCC. No one is going to enforce that. But, I’d never tell the OP to bust a reg out of convenience either. It’s up to him if he wants to adhere to rules that stringently. He should know though, that if indeed he did require a SVFR...

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

I know and ultimately that worked out but the request needs to be made prior to entering. If the OP didn’t believe he could maintain VMC all the way to the airport, then request SVFR.

Is Broken at 1300 considered VFR?

Doesn’t matter if it’s VFR or MVFR for reporting conditions at the airfield. It’s about maintaining a flight condition and only you know what that is because it’s in your immediate area. If you couldn't maintain VMC entering the D then you request a SVFR. The controller can deny it (traffic...

    Kris Kristofferson (June 22, 1936 – September 28, 2024)

When I saw that he passed the other day, I really didn’t know much about him other than he sang country music. I heard rumors he flew in the Army Guard but I had no idea the extent of his experience. Once I read about him, I realized he really lead quite a life. Amazing guy. Kinda like when...

Medical Helicopter, 3 Fatalities, KY, 10/7/2024

Well they were landing to the football field so in order to do a recon (right orbit), they’re gonna get near the tower. Generally that recon is done around 300 ft during the day and sometimes the aircraft shows up at normal cruise. Honestly think he completely forgot about the guy wires since...

5:30 pm and sounds like good VFR. Sun might have been a factor. One reporter seemed surprised the guy wire didn’t snap. Those things are thick. Black Hawk hit one in Texas in 2004 and it cut through the aircraft like a hot knife through butter.

    Our move to Texas

Nah wasn’t me but I saw that Long Eze Friday AM when I was leaving the hotel (Embassy Suites). I was heading into DTO for the simulator. We come out every year to do the sim.

The pilot had a lot of experience. Over 17,000 hrs. Was Army Guard (UH-72, OH-58). Fixed wing B727 with DHL.

They had a G500H in the panel so unless they had SVT off or the towers not depicted or HTAWS inhibit, they would’ve known about the tower. If they were too slow (60 kts less) based on config, HTAWS won’t alert. That’s so you won’t hear it yapping all the time. As far as iPads, since they’re...

    Our move to Texas

Just left Denton yesterday. Mid 90s. Last year this time it was chilly and rainy. Too much traffic for me.

91.3 emergency authority - "deviate from any rule OF THIS PART" - practical effects?

One of the reasons why I’m not thrilled with highway landings. While they can be fun, I get a chip and I’m screwed. FADEC issues being another one.

Pilot threatened with arrest for helping NC victims of Hurricane Helene...excuse me?

A lot intentional misinformation about lack of govt help going on social media. Just saw a FB post showing civ helos delivering supplies and “no govt helos to be seen.”Army NG has been flying around the clock in NC / TN. I just saw on Flightradar yesterday 4 CH-47s flying around the Asheville...

What would happen if lightning hit one of our planes while flying?

The DA20 still has some protection designed into it under part 23. It just doesn’t meet the more stringent protection under IFR because of its composite (non mesh) airframe. Just like the helicopter I fly. It’s VFR only but still has part 27 requirements for lightning protection. Is going to get...

    Florida in Crosshairs Again…. Milton

Most of our company’s deployed aircraft that were helping Helene are now enroute to Tallahassee. If you look on flight radar we’ve got a train of helos stretching from Greenville SC to Macon GA. This is gonna be a big one.
