NA: Honda v. Mazda mini SUVs

    Baron Landing Gear

CB should pop if the sector gear hits the stop. It must have had the wrong CB installed, or it was bypassed. Also you check the limit switches each annual, it's easy to check just raise the gear then use the hand crank to make sure there is some more travel available. Again, multiple ways to...

    Baron Landing Gear

The only real way to have a bonanza gear problem is to get a broken rod end on one of the retract rods. Yes catastrophic sector gear failures can happen in the gearbox but that is exceptionally rare. The rod ends shouldn't be expected to last 40 years. If your plane has a few thousand hours...

    O-360 A1A fuel burn at 17,000ft?

Same engine in my travel air. IIRC 17kft will be about 6.5-7gph leaned for best power (which isn't much power)

    Passenger with a Pacemaker

no issue, he's confused. Yes, EMI can be a problem on some vehicles. For example people with pacemakers should not go inside the high voltage cabinet of a moving locomotive. Magnetos aren't even rounding error in that equation.

"Driverless Cars Could Mean the End of Domestic Flights"

sure it will. When i travel for work I can't fly myself, it's airlines or car. My cut-off is ~12 hours of driving. I live in a non-hub city with no direct flights to anywhere, so by the time I make a connection or 2, any airline trip is 12 hours minimum. For personal travel, in my beechcraft...

Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to fly

Re: Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to f gotcha. I can see the value in teaching holding entries and such. Can't imagine it's of much use learning the mechanics of driving an airplane.

Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to fly

Re: Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to f I don't know what a "desktop ATD" is but if it sits on a desktop it can't be of much use. This is what I think of when someone says training in a sim. This is where I got my antonov type ratings, albeit in...

Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to fly

Re: Using flight simulation as a stepping stone and affordable means to learning to f Yes, it can be very economical, which is why it is used so much. I got several type ratings 100% in the sim and first time I sat in the cockpit of the real airplane was on a revenue flight. OTOH are you...

What do you mean turn off the landing light?

This thread is classic. Someone loses power while VFR in central Kansas and they get chastised that they's be in big trouble if they happened to be in the washington DC area in IMC when that happened. I must be seeing colors wrong because it seems like the red board to me. A bunch of people...
