    Commercial Checkride Complete

Having water present in any deliberate quantity inside a bulk storage bare steel tank filled with pressurized O2 just isn't logical. Not sure how this OWT keeps getting older among trained thinkers. Assuming Al or FG tanks in the airplane? Mine's kevlar wrapped Al, I think.

Best X-country single engine plane for $250,000?

My current ride. See caption. Late model, great radios, long legs. Will x-country with the best of them.

    Flying with music

I have an XM sat music subscription in my plane, but its a waste because I never listen to it. I just don't fly enough to get bored or need a distraction.

    How far is your hangar?

I live 10 min from local municipal airfield, but there are no hangars available & it is poorly managed, so no loss. Large class C airport is 20 min away & is expensive. I hangar next town which is about a 30 min drive from home & like it just fine. Fuel & hangar space are cheaper there, too.

    NA Pex

I've had four leaks above & below slab in my 20 y/o house in the copper ells. Builder must have bought them cheap from a foreign land? PEX is great! I use the nylon crimp type on my hunter camp cabins, water wells and ranch home. Most anyone else uses he metal crimp type, it seems. The nylon...

    Looking for a UH-1 "Huey"

Someone hangars a Huey here at KMDD. Really like the sound of that two bladed rotor when he is over town.

    Hot start question

My T182T lives in a hot area and loves the prime. Hot engine or cold engine, this Lyc TIO-540 prefers me to crack the throttle 1/2", hit boost (fuel pump switch) and advance mixture full forward and count to five after fuel flow is indicated. Then mixture to idle cut-off, turn off boost, hit...

    What could it have been?

Quite a few of us are out here hunting the raw material for the gogo juice to put into your plane. Been better at it lately, it seems because production is really up and the price is really down. BTW, these days the sand storms aren't as bad as the ones we used to have that would block out the...

Central Texas Pilots - Eat Your Hearts Out

Did a lot of flying out of Tim's Airpark about 40 years ago. Nice airfield. Remember having to pay attention to all the RF-4 Phantoms on the long approach to Bergstrom AFB to the south.

Micro VGs - yea or nay?

The VGs were already installed on my T182T so I don't know the magnitude of the affect they have on the operating parameters. I normally get slightly less speed and slightly higher fuel burn than POH numbers, but there could be other factors in obtaining numbers different than book values with...

I May Just Have to Buy an iPhone Now

I lost my iPhone 6+ at the grocery store yesterday. Tried calling it but it has been turned off by whoever found it. This morning I replaced it with another Apple 6+. So, as long as the finder never guesses my 4 digit code, all my data is extremely safe from discovery?

    New TFR, why?

We like the on field cafe at KSJT. Mathis Field has the best Chinese in San Angelo. While strolling down the ramp to/from the FBO and the terminal building, I have on occasion glanced inside open hangars that held aircraft with very subdued USAF markings and paint schemes using shades of dark...

    Vacuum Failure

Had a vacuum pump fail once with about 1100 hrs on it. Not a prob this time for me since it only drove the stby horizon while on a trip while VMC. They're cheap -- old pilots change them out at around 1000 hrs, I was told.
