    First Airplane Purchase: Piper Arrow

Being that your goal is training through the four ratings, I'd want the simplest airplane possible - minimize downtime, cost, and risk associated with things like retracts and turbos. Airplane ownership has its own learning curve, and you're going to want to be focusing on the flying. Buy a...

    Dual Sport M/C

I hear they're good machines, but don't have any experience with one besides riding one in the pits at motorcycle track days. Stable, low, light, easy. Run it dry every time and you'll be fine (fuel valve). Owned a DR-Z, and have ridden the DR-650, and a WRX250R (all supermotos).

New Commercial ACS... complex plane not required?

This is great. I'm a few weeks from taking my CPL ride, and just had to start with a new school (1st hour was Saturday). I have a Complex endorsement and plenty of time in Arrows and Mooneys - seemed ridiculous to have to go through all that work to show that I can swing the gear.

    Flying an 'Older' Cirrus

I don't recall exactly where I got this information, but I recall that in our case (group of three planning on purchasing a G1/early G2) there was a budget limit, which we would have to add some $$$ to in order to get everyone trained, but would be able to take the ground portion together...

    [NA]Tire slime - patent?[NA]

There are a lot of MTB'ers out there running DIY sealant (most modern mountain bikes are set up to be run tubeless, and many riders take advantage of this). Google "ghetto tubeless". Scott

    Favorite coffee

Probably. But my favorite methods lately are generally simpler (French press, Moka pot). You can’t go wrong with a pour-over or an Aeropress either, as long as your water temps are right. Everyone should try cold brew at least once. Backcountry use for any is pretty straightforward.

Mit professor solves jet noise problem...

I would suspect that engineering professors are over-represented in that 1%. I've met the man in question in several contexts - he's most certainly among the 1%.

    Favorite coffee

Behind flying and bicycles, coffee is likely my most time-consuming endeavor. Be careful! YMMV, but I’ve found that brewing method and technique matter far more than subtle differences in brands - reasonably fresh, higher quality beans (ground at use) should hit the mark if treated with care...

    Bridge collapse

This will be the Hyatt Regency accident of our time, taught alongside Tufte’s assessment of the Columbia shuttle loss... FWIW, I read elsewhere was that the “stress test” was an assessment of an installed strain measurement system. It didn’t sound like a load test - light loads should show that...

    Flight Bag You Actually Use

Exterior "hidden" pocket (where my kneeboard is in the images) is 8" by 11", roughly. Should fit fine, unless the case is very thick. Interior pocket is even bigger (you can see my ipad and logbook inside in one of the images); 9.5 by 12"

A Mini does. Can’t speak to the fit of the larger tablets, but let me know if you’d like me to measure the pocket.
