What's the deal with Mooney at Airventure?

Somewhat relevant to the discussion about Chinese entities "parking" money in US assets. https://www.npr.org/sections/money/2017/10/27/560407035/episode-802-the-hotel-at-the-center-of-the-world Transcript...

What's the deal with Mooney at Airventure?

Worked a booth at OSH in 2013, and went back in a friends Mooney in 2016. Maybe Mooney wanted to keep the general airshow riff-raff out? Not a good look, regardless. My friend wanted to get some Mooney gear (anything!) for his daughter, and take a look at the newest models (G1000, two doors)...

    Commercial Complex Question

You going professional? Go get the 8hr in a multi.

I overflew my 8 hours... twice.

My CFI forgot his epaulettes last week. Will a NASA form save his bacon?

BasicMed and mild red/green color blindness

I "just barely" pass the color dot test (red-green for me, as well). Was the original test administered under daylight or did the nurse phone it in and do it under the fluorescent office lighting? Makes a big difference for me. Not sure of any other implications - I don’t remenber taking a...

where to get a non aviation physical

Got one done at Minute Clinic last week for similar reasons. Fewer dumb questions, seemingly ("do you wear your seatbelt" type stuff).

    I Bought a New Chainsaw

A friend and I do much to maintain a local paved bike path (best method to get from our small, dense mill town to the commuter rail station ~2mi away). We had a very heavy, springtime snow in early April that took down a ton of trees - his electric chainsaw made quick work of a surprising...

    Pilot School or College?

Just for the sake of bulletizing what's been said above: - finish college... You'll crush the job market with those majors - small school, part 61, or a smaller 141 program which may save some time - get your PPL and buy or join a club for the rest - if you can get a TAA (glass panel), then you...

    Bike in a Plane?

Wheels off. You can get a geartrain cover. I used an old cheap sleeping bag to cover the frame and you can get wheel cases. There’s not much left to a modern mountain bike once the wheels are off.

    Flying Club Dilemma

Agreed. But if the ratio of members to planes is too small, then you may not even make a dent.

    Flying Club Dilemma

Yeah, there's a structural problem here (ratio of people to planes). Or the hangar costs are bananas. Sometimes it's good to have a low monthly; you get a lot of people who don't fly but help to support the club, but this only works if the monthly income can support operations. If the...

    Flying Club Dilemma

Unless the schedule is unusually booked up (at <10ppl/plane, i find this doubtful) or you somehow doubt the solvency of the club and their ability to repay the 10k should you want to leave, I'd say that it sounds like a pretty wise move. Your current club sounds like (functionally) a rental...

    Flying Club Dilemma

Are the rates at the new club Tach or Hobbs? Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Gives you some time to figure out your GA mission. Barring that, find a non-equity partnership, but you have to hang out at the airport to figure hat out. The hint about asking local a&p’s is a good one. My CFI got me...

What happens when/if they come back? Back into an FO spot at a major for 80k?

    SR-20

Not sure, honestly, other than that the system is LED and was a state-funded upgrade. May be a requirement.

    SR-20

Interesting thread. I’m in the process of trying to put something together at 6b6 and an early SR22 is ideally what we want to end up in. Perhaps someone here may be interested? :)

    Quick turns

I’ll agree with you on most garden burger fake meat varieties, but a black bean burger (mashed beans, egg, bread crumbs, seasoning, and diced onions sometimes) is at the top of my quick turn list. Make a dozen and freeze ten. :)
