List of ADS-B Out xpdrs and options?

I'm hoping that the Levil "Beacon" becomes a reality for certified aircraft.... I think it would work nicely for what I need, and maybe without spending a lot of AMU's... http://nebula.wsimg.com/dff23c04c877201b745f6b86e5280cc7?AccessKeyId=25B2510C35AB96A7E02E&disposition=0&alloworigin=1

    Max allowed student pilot BAC?

Kind of like the student pilot who was busted for flying sky divers..... except that he got off after it was known that the last jumper out of the plane was the CFI... Who was PIC on the climb up, and he was solo on the way down...

Apparently it was a bit windy in Vegas today...

Crazy winds in SoCal... when the high desert wants to move north east, it is really a mess!... I checked on my plane, still sitting there like I left it.... wish I have a hanger but at $550 / month, not going to happen.

How far out is short final?

About a month ago I was going into St George Utah, 5 miles south of the field and still a little high, called position, and entering downwind. Southwest flight came on and called " on final", I reported downwind and height, and they answered back, On final, at 12.5K... I said "Ok, no visual...

    Pattern altitude

I was going into St George Utah last month, and a Southwest flight calls out "On final"... I was about to enter downwind so asked where they were... his response at 12.5k decending.... so off I went to make space for a bigger plane than me that was on final from way up there straight in ...

    request of Cherokee 140 owners

This is the inside of my 1967 140. This plane was changed into a 180 back in 1971, with an o-360 engine and moving the rear bulkhead back one station.... so in the photo on the edges can be seen headliner on the bulkhead flange so I believe this is the panels that you are looking for...

    Constant airspeed climb/descent

Interesting.... So I always overshot my cruse altitude by 100 to 200 feet, then keep the power in, push over and drop down to the right altitude, level off and reduce power... then trim to hold that increased speed.... if you just level off at your cursing numbers, the nose will be high, and...

    Buying a plane...LSA or not...

As noted, buying an aircraft with the avionics you want to end up with is better than upgrading one... the $$$$ spent on the new panel will not re recouped when selling it latter... But then having the equipment you want and need is more important to me than making sure I make money when...

Alternator on or off during engine start and stop?

My '67 140 has one master switch... it is either "Power" or "NoPower"... each radio has a switch, so they are either "on", or"off"... The Alternator field has a fuze, that screws in so I do not unscrew it other than to check that it is still good, during the annual inspection... it also has a...

    Buying a plane...LSA or not...

When I wanted to get back into flying after 20+ years I was going to go LSA... and after flying a CT, was not impressed.... Rudder was heavy and needed to be used a lot, sight picture was off and I had issues landing it smoothly. Tried a Ramos and that was better, but still not what I...

    Airplane detailing

There is a guy at El Monte airport that washes and waxes... first wash was $70. He wanted $450 to wash, buff out and wax the first time, and then $250 if done within 6 months of the buff.... I'm having the buff and wax done next month... as I wash it myself but not waxing it myself...

    missing 172 in Utah

I left St George at 1:30pm to fly back to So Cal, as the clouds were building and the weather was coming in. The cloud base was about 10 - 12k, but some building at 8k. We made it home in 3 hours, with about a 25 mph head wind... flying at 8.5k, and as we approached the Cajon pass, there was...

    Monitoring 121.5

I only have 1 radio, and use flight following.... so do not monitor 121.5.... KEMT uses 121.2 for tower.... so the other day I was switching from ground to tower ready to depart... called out to the tower as such, and was told " hit the switch"... all that was said... I looked around not...

    Part 103.

A good friend flies a LS trike, is a registered, N numbered aircraft... and been told he can not use some airports as they do not allow Ultralights... so yes there are some places that are not up to speed as the what and LSA is or an Ultralight. We can all just get along... I had an UL back...

Piper Archer side window scratch removal

Get some scrap window acrylic and try the process out first.. go to a plastic supplier, and ask how they remove scratches... test the waters before actually jumping in with both feet. replacing a side window because the scratched area became worse would not be fun.
