Could just trade it for a MOONEY. :)

    A36 Bonanza Anemic Climbs

Its a education issue. No fault of the poster but it's amazing how many people think backing off the rpm has some sort of positive out come. I cruise my NA internal combustion engine at 2700rpms full time at 9000 and above. There really isn't that much difference between 2700 and 2500 or...

1800 RPM for 30 sec before shut down

Switch to tempest plugs instead of the crappy champions with bad resistors, lean during taxi until it will barley run (yes you will have to richen it to apply power to go up grade).... The 1800rpm deal sounds stupid. Like sand blasting the prop stupid or blowing debris back into the hanger.

Do you think night flying should require a sing-off?

Re: Do you think night flying should require a sign-off? We don't need any more regulation. I'd say leave it the way it is and let the pilot decide if he or she is fit.

    Flying Cirrus Over Open Water

Flew straight across gulf twice in my single engine mooney a year ago. Keep your equipment in great shape and have a plan B and know how to execute it. Landing in water at 55kts or so at a flat angle shouldn't be a big deal. Now falling off that jetski at 55kts really hurt. The airplane is...

    Hot 0-320 cessna 172

Wondering if there is a legal way to increase fuel flow on take off roll. We have a 172 carb in our club and its running 410-430chts and baffles are in perfect shape. This is only on climb out. The take of fuel flow is about 12.3gph and were thinking it should be about 13.5-14gph. How do...

Impact Of Gear Up On Value

A good repair will in effect make the plane better than before. Think about it, the engine gets opened up and inspected where corrosion can be found (dreaded cam and lifter failure). Gets new prop, mags, overhaul prop governor. If done by good mx the plane will be better not worse and you...

    For the engine experts-Oil Level

I run a mooney with io360 and fill to 6 add at 4qts.....works a lot better. Now if you have a plane that uses a lot of oil, keep more in it on long flights. It would be embarrassing to run out of oil before gas :)

Make sure mags are back to BOTH before takeoff

It's ok to make mistakes....just don't make ones that will kill you. That's called learning....its a good thing,,,,, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Scammed by insurance..

Deer hits are covered under comprehensive ....stick a couple strands of deer hair in a crack between your mirror and body and the story you tell is.....a deer jumped out, swerved to miss it and grazed it and then hit a snow bank as a result of trying to avoid the deer. Collision claims raises...

    Plane down in segoville TX

Someone is going to come on here and chew everyone's butt for Monday morning quarter backing....mark my words. But.....this makes me think a bit about some older folks with high blood pressure where stress could be a issue. Flying a bunch of approaches missed, trying to get home would put a...

    Preflights optional I guess...

If the airplane leaves my sight tanks get sumped. Period. Also a run up allows the cylinders to get warmed up closer to operating temp. Which isn't required but it certainly promotes long life.

Yet another LOP question... WOT, Low altitude..

Light detonation isn't harmful. I doubt it's possible in a naturally aspirated plane to even get into any detonation under 380. Moderate or even light detonation will cause a increase in cht.

Yet another LOP question... WOT, Low altitude..

I think you would find it next to impossible to get ANY naturally aspirated aircraft engine to detonate at 350 degrees CHT regardless of power setting. Detonation is caused by a combination of fuel not having enough resistance to burn (octane) prior to the spark, compression and temperature...

Yet another LOP question... WOT, Low altitude..

cht kill cylinders and valve assemblies, if it's naturally aspirated the only thing that matters is CHTs. Egt is just wasted heat out the exhaust. The extra fuel doesn't "cool", the leaded gas doesn't lubricate and genius that said your saving 2oz of fuel is a idiot. It's not 2oz it's more...

    Reiff Preheater

And don't get the turbo version if you ever plan on leaving it pluged in longer than a few hours as the 100w turbo bands burn out, but the 50w cylinder bands are great.
