Trip / purchase story for my TR182

Yes under those circumstances I would have pushed pretty hard for an adjustment  What I'm not sure about is whether I would have had the guts to walk away based on the discrepancies, given how much time and $$ I had already sunk into getting there. Great write-up, and good pointers to...

Trip / purchase story for my TR182

Congrats Tango Whiskey! I've a lot of time in flying club 182RGs, and now that I'm out west a TR182 sounds like a great option. Now I've never bought a plane, but why would you think this is anything but good, tough negotiating on the part of the seller? You were the first to call the broker...

    ForeFlight Trap/observation

The radar broadcast by ADS-B unfortunately doesn't differentiate between rain, mixed and snow. So snow & mixed will all show using the same "green" spectrum as rain, regardless of which app/ADS-B receiver you use. - Josh

    Passed my instrument checkride!!!

Well done - having my Instrument Rating has completely transformed my flying, in a good way. Hope you enjoy using it!

    Foreflight/Stratus wx push

Satellite (ie: Visual or IR clouds) aren't broadcast via ADS-B, so won't be available in-flight with the Stratus. But the radar should. If you have trouble getting it to work, email team@foreflight.com for assistance.

    Foreflight/Stratus wx push

I believe the FAA contracted with a company to install and operate the ADS-B towers. That's probably the best of both worlds, as I doubt any private company would have gone and installed the towers on their own without planning on a substantial revenue stream to back them up. And that revenue...

    Foreflight/Stratus wx push

I believe ADS-B weather (ie: TIS-B ) includes METARs, not AWOS/ASOS. So unless there's an exceptional update (ie: not hourly) to the airport's METAR, you'll only see hourly updates via ADS-B, regardless of which hardware combination you use.

    Garmin Connext and Flight Stream

Only if you get it without a battery, which considerably limits its utility if you're moving between different aircraft. And removes a backup should your aircraft have an electrical issue. With a battery, the GDL39-3D is the same price as the Stratus II.

    ForeFlight 6.6 - Synthetic Vision

Rly? Granted, it's the only ADS-B + AHRS that works with ForeFlight, but Stratus 2 is also several several hundred $$ less than the iLevil and Clarity SV. Only the GDL39-3D is the same price. For what it's worth, the SV still works without the AHRS: you'll see the obstacles/terrain, you'll...

    ForeFlight 6.6 - Synthetic Vision

Marc, SV in ForeFlight works in both landscape & portrait, in either full or "split" screen. Or is the Landscape requirement for a space constraint, or some other reason? - Josh

    FlyQ EFB Lifetime Subscription

No: ForeFlight developed its own internal georeferencing capability several years ago, and hasn't used any data from SA since then. I believe I saw Hilton say the same thing about WingX too, in another thread (I checked, it was on the red board).

    ForeFlight 6.4

Brian, if the details of an aircraft with the same tail # aren't 100% identical on each device, then it treats the profile on each device as a separate plane even if the tail #s are the same. Look at the upside: figuring out which to delete is also a great opportunity to make the remaining...

    ForeFlight 6.4

Not sure where you're seeing it in a Dropbox, but the W&B Guide is at http://www.foreflight.com/ipad/guide/wb (from http://www.foreflight.com/support/weight-and-balance) I asked: the Pilot's Guide should be updated on the web & in the app by this evening.

How to know when stadium TFR's are active in LA?

ForeFlight added a feed for Stadium TFRs in June 2014. The data is not from FAA sources, since the FAA themselves don't keep track of which teams are playing when. But it conforms to the definition of Stadium TFRs in FDC 4/3621 (and its predecessor 9/5151)...

    WingX + Dual GPS170

The Stratus 2 is dual-band (1090 and 978), the Stratus 1 is single band (978-only) like the DUAL XGPS 170. You probably know this too, but the weather data comes over the 978 band, which is why the single-band receivers all choose receiver that one.

Foreflight 6.3 with W&B and flight path recording...

Depends: if all you were using CloudAhoy for was track logs with no "analysis" of your flight, then this does that, so CA might not be so useful. But if you like the CloudAhoy analysis and you have a Stratus, now you can directly export the track log from ForeFlight to CloudAhoy.
  19. happypilot876

    Foreflight 6.3 available

W&B isn't currently included in Sync, so that doesn't happen automatically. But you can send a copy of a W&B profile to another device via the Send-to > Email option. When you get the email on the other device, tap the link and it will open the W&B profile on that other device.

    It shall be mine!

Neat concept, but unless the head tracking is really, REALLY good, meaning negligible latency aka: delay between your head moving and the symbology "moving" in the display so that it stays in the same place in space, I fear that trying to overlay the symbology like they show in their video is...
