    Umm, we don't :) I start around 800 RPM and slowly get it to 1100. Once oil is warming up take it down to 1000 and taxi.

    My first plane was a SR20. Great little plane but as we call it in the Cirrus world it's UPDT (Under Power Death Trap). The ceiling is 17,5 but trust me you wont get it up that high. Not that you would need to but no way you will get one that high. I had mine at 11.5 and that was a struggle...

    Well I'll have to take your word that aviation is a great business. The only thing aviation does to me is sucks me dry - but I love it. Never tried to make money in aviation though. Who knows maybe because of this post I'll go to school and be an AP:) but I doubt it.

    AZ: gotta admit I admire your entrepreneurial spirit but personally I think you should downshift and work on your license and see how it goes. But that's just me. Aviation is a great hobby and a great place to lose a boat load of cash :) Just sayin.

    As long as you are proficient in short field ops you will be fine. I go there in the cirrus all the time and it's no biggie. But if you can't hit the first line or two - go around.
