    Flight Bag Recommendations

Ehhhh. I’m not sure it’s that simple though. I mean, sure, but toss in a water bottle, some foggles (students will forget theirs), an iPad charger, portable battery (cause I’m not trusting an EFB unless I have a backup plan), some paperwork, all the checklists for the three different types of...

    Flight Bag Recommendations

Yea, I'm not looking for anything like the size of a suitcase. Just something thats a decent size to throw iPad, headset, charts, handheld radio, maybe lunch, and some paperwork into. I've been using a bookbag since day one of pilot training, but I think tossing my new headset (the government...

    Flight Bag Recommendations

Looking to buy a nice flight bag I can keep for years to come. I would like for it to work for flight instructor flights as well as when I likely transition to the airlines in a year or two. I'm currently looking at Brightline bags, but I'm curious if anyone else has any other recommendations...

    FBO "Swag"

Nah, I didn't reach out to management or anything. It wasn't that bad of a review. It basically just came down to us arriving slightly after the FBO closed and being told we couldn't run inside to use the restroom unless we paid the call out fee--even though staff was still on site and we were...

    FBO "Swag"

As a broke flight instructor burdened with debt, this will be quite the treat lol

    FBO "Swag"

I wrote a not so nice review about a FBO the other day on AirNav and the FBO reached out and said if I took it down they would send me some FBO "swag". Any idea what this may include? Just curious what sort of stuff they've passed out to other people before. Update: so I received the box...

    TV Alert! AllEgiant Airlines

I agree that that event should be pretty scary. That's the one that sticks out to me the most too. But, I believe (can't remember exactly what the public report says) it was AAR who made the mistakes... not G4. And AAR does work for just about every airline in the US. Just my thoughts...

    TV Alert! AllEgiant Airlines

Yea, just a bummer. Understanding the pilot and business side, it's apparent that the show is definitely appealing to the "they're gonna crash soon" scare. The interview with the paxs who were on board the engine failure flight out of CVG bugged me the most. I mean, engines fail. It's a part...

    TV Alert! AllEgiant Airlines

I watched the program and it's a bummer they only showed one side of the story... definitely missing/skewing a lot of the facts. Are they perfect? No. Are they safe? I'd say so and I worked on the MX side for a couple of years. I'll definitely significantly discount anything that 60 Minutes...

    Got a pilot deviation today

Do they always have to file a report for a low altitude alert? I was flying into JQF last year and got a low altitude alert from tower (weird because we were VMC and we didn't look that low) and we didn't hear anything else about it.

    Garmin 500 External Video Source

Got it. Makes sense now! Thanks for the info.

    Garmin 500 External Video Source

Hey guys. Reading through the G500 pilot guide (3.3.11) today I saw where the MFD can have an external video source. Doesn't say much other than that. Anyone have any experience with this? Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to play a movie or is it solely for something like a GoPro...

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

Agreed. Unfortunately, I just didn't think to tell this guy. I just assumed he knew what was going on and didn't really process that he might not be hearing the horn.

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

Not trying to get into a long discussion here, but I was teaching my student how to fly his airplane. Not how to fly other pilots'. To be clear, I heard the horn over the radio but didn't process that this guy might not have heard it until we saw him on the side of the runway. Do I start...

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

My bad, 2048! You can hear his first call somewhere around 12 minutes in. Base around 18 and ATC instructions around 20.

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

Not quite sure what you’re getting at here. Can you rephrase?

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

    KHIO, Mooney 74513. 2048Z.

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

Sweet! I kept thinking task saturation, but I knew that wasn't right. Thanks!

Gear Up Landing Right in Front of Me

Was number two to land today when a Mooney landed gear up right in front of me... I heard the gear warning horn over the radios and didn't say anything. Looking back, I should have given a "hey, just want to make sure you know you might have your gear warning horn going off" call, but I was too...

Extra Readings for Commercial Student Pilots

Nah, I mean I have some ideas of what to include, but I don't know what I don't know and that's why I ask. Its not like I've never read ACs or accident case studies. Just looking to get ideas as to what case studies or articles people thought had a practical application to flying...
